QOTD 1/4

Have you thought about your seating arrangements yet?

I always said I wouldn't have a hard time seating everyone... Well, I cursed myself. To kill time I started to play around with the seating chard on TK and I'm giving myself a headache. This is NOT fun at all.

Re: QOTD 1/4

  • There's a seating chart on TK?  Uggghhhhh I think seating is so complicated!  I told my friend I was going to seat by first come, first serve, so if you want a good seat, reply first! jk lol!

  • It's 4/1 silly!

Anyway, I have not even thought about seating arrangements yet. I have always wanted to do one long table, but that would be great for a completely outdoor wedding... not a venue like mine. Our ceremony will be outside and so will our cocktail hour but not our reception. I don't even want to think about where we will be seating everyone yet.

  • I have not started working on the seating chart. I do have some ideas as far as who will be at each table, like a neighbors table, a school friends table, etc. but not sure where within the venue it will be. Do you have to upload your guest list into TK to use the seating chart? I can't remember...I may use WeddingWire for the seating, or look into Martha. Not sure yet. =)
  • I haven't thought about it yet.  But then again I don't know if our reception will need it.  It's going to be more of a casual reception.

  • I actually started to think about it. We have our guest list done (somewhat) and I actually placed people at tables. What I am doing is once we make the final guest list, I will use paper plates with name tags for everyone saying they will be in attendance. I already know how the tables will be set up/how many at a table because I have talked with the venue. The plan is when we get RSVP back we will be able to take people off the table I originally had placed if they are not coming, I am not doing escort cards, we are making a directory of everyone or family who RSVPed in alphabetical order on a big poster that will be placed in a poster frame.

  • I haven't finished the guest list yet- we made a preliminary list that was about 100 people too many! I am actually really looking forward to making a seating chart. I always thought it sounded really fun to do.

  • I haven't thought about it too much, and it shouldn't be too bad for our crowd. FI and I intend on having a sweetheart table instead of a head table.

The event coordinator at my venue sent me a potential seating plan a little while ago for approximately 120 guests, we'll most likely end up around 80-90 guests- so right there we'll be able to eliminate a few tables from that plan. Our guests will for sure have plenty of breathing room :-)

  • OH! I read this somewhere: when you make your guest list, write everyone's names on a notecard.  Then as people respond, you can mark who is coming and who is not.  Then use the cards for the people who are coming to move around and create seating arrangements!  Maybe this is obvious, but I had never thought of it!
