First Look

Hey everyone-

So I keep going back and forth about a first look photo. I asked FI and he said he's not superstitious and does not care either way. I just can't decide. I've seen first look photos and they look so romantic and a big part of me wants to do it because we have such a late wedding (6:30pm on a friday) and I'm worried about the lighting and because of how beautiful those pictures look. Then there is a part of me that is worried that it might take away from me walking down the aisle and seeing him/him seeing me. What do you guys think/what are you guys doing?

FI and I aren't planning to do one - though I may discuss it with him to eliminate some time between the ceremony and reception in which we are planning to do full bridal party pictures.

As far as being worried about it taking away from walking down the aisle, from what I read from other people - it didn't change it at all, that it was still very special.

Others have said that doing the first look made everthing more special, it was private and intimate. It helped them with the nerves, but at the same time it did not take away the feeling of walking down the aisle.

I would do whatever feels best for you and your FI - whatever you both feel would work best and would be most meaningful.

We're completely non-superstitious... to be honest, I think we're going to get ready together.  We will be staying in the same hotel room the night before, so I think we're just going to get up and get ready together.  I'm not into the whole getting ready with all the girls thing, and this just feels more practical.  I guess I'm a bore! lol

We're definitely doing the first look. I think it makes it even more special and intimate and plus it'll make for some great pictures. I'm so excited!

FI is superstitious. He says the first time he wants to see me is when I'm walking down the aisle. BUT we are doing a shot where FI will be on one side of the door, and me on the other. Its cute. It'll look like this:

We have heard nothing but great things about the first look, so we have decided to do it. We are also having a 630 pm wedding, and i just dont like the idea of our guests waiting around too long for us to show up. I had the same worry as you with it taking away from the special moment of him seeing me for the first time while walking down the aisle, but as a PP said, I have heard it doesn't make it any less special and can even make it better since you two would have a private moment before the ceremony to calm your nerves and get most of the tears out of the way! After the ceremony, the bride and groom are so busy running around and visiting with guests that you rarely get that special moment together that you'll be able to share during the first look.

We're going to do a first look.  Mostly because we want to get the pictures done before the ceremony (or most of them anyway).  And I also just wanted a picture of when he sees me for the first time.  And that will hopefully also make me less nervous.  I'm not superstitious about him seeing me before the wedding.  I'm definitely untraditional.

Yeah I'm really leaning towards a first look. The photos just look so romantic. My sister did her pictures before hand and said it did not take away from anything and she was way mroe relaxed. I just wanted to see what you ladies thought :-)

FI insists that he does not want to see me until I come down the aisle, so I really had no say in a first look.

I always pictured seeing FI face cause everyone and myself thinks he will cry since he has never really been emotional infront of everyone. Plus I want to get ready with everyone and enjoy since all his buddies will be with him! i guess I am your traditional bride

We're definitely doing First Look and the more I think about it the more exciting it is to me! I think it will calm both of us down and to see each other alone first and capture all that so intimately. Plus I'd rather go straight into the reception after the ceremony. We're not doing a cockatil hour, just catered BBQ dinner, so there's no real reason to do all the pictures after the ceremony.

We'll I think I'm sold on the first look. I just think it makes more sense especially for our time line. Plus I think they look so romantic. And that way we can go and hangout with our guest right after which is what I want to do anyway :-)

Since we're doing all the formal pictures before the ceremony, we'll inadvertantly do first look pictures too. I like the idea and we're not traditional at all lol.

Same here! I wanted to do a first look so we decided to do all photos before the ceremony to save time and effort.

Yeah I'm thinking we do the first look and then take all the rest of the pictures before the ceremony. I'm really excited about it actually
