We met with our priest last night and gave our deposit. He isn't requring us to do maritial classes and seems to have a very leanient attitude towards marriage. I'm really happy and surprised.

I'm going to be WAY under my budget for the ceremony, especially because all church decorations are included in the price.

He told us that on Christmas Eve mass he likes to ask all couples getting married the following year to attend so that he can introduce us to the congregation, I want to go, but we have a family gathering that night.

We will have 3 meetings, one each month starting in Febraury to plan out the ceremony, sign all paperwork, etc.

I'm so excited to have checked another thing off!

Congrats.. I actually talked with the priest last night. We are trying to figure out when we can do our marriage classes. FI doesn't want to but he know it is important and if special for us!!

Congrats! That's one of the few big things left in planning. We met with my pastor once and are probably will meet with him again in the next month or so to start counseling. However, he's said he's turned down couples before if he thinks it won't be a good marriage and he'll tell us within the first few meetings if he's comfortable with it. It's stressful because I feel like I have to prove to him that we're a good match! Plus, it's not a "at this time" it's a general "some time in the future I might tell you I don't want to do this." Blah.

I havent even started looking for Jps or officiants. Although we have someone at my company who is ordained so I might just ask him

There's a possibility of us having a different officiant since apparently ours likes to take Memorial Day weekend off, lol.

So if that happens to you, which I hope it won't, your pastor will refuse to marry you? That seems so weird to me. I'd think YOU would know bext who is right for you.

It's weird and apparently he's turned people down before because of stuff like many marriages in a short period of time, major debt on one side, etc, so I don't think we have to worry, but I can't help but worry a little! It'd leave us in a little bit of a bind. My dad was taken aback too that he hadn't already told us yes or no and he's friends with my pastor. He also said it doesn't matter what the pastor decides, my parents are 100% behind us and will help work it out. </div>
