May 2013 Weddings

Hello There!

I'm hoping to become more regular with my posting again. I've been swamped with work stuff, but am starting to see the light again.
We're back on planning and today we paid off the DJ, photobooth, and paid a chunk on the Photographer, as well as bought/paid for P's ring. We also got more supplies we need (almost everything, actually) for our popcorn bar.

On top of that, Patrick received a job offer which he was looking forward to getting, however the pay is less than he was expecting it to be and he had another opportunity related to going back to school come up, which seems to be a better fit. He's doing well with his transition and only has 9 days until he's officially retired. I've loved having him here with me each day, but I'm really seeing that he's developing the need for something more (school, hobby, something....) so hopefully he'll find that soon.

My brother and his GF and her 2 kdis came to visit last week and we went to the texas state fair... perfect timing since today Big Tex (the 52 foot icon of the state fair) caught fire and burnt down. Yikes. Got a pic of all 4 kids in front of it though  before he was gone. :)

Mine are the middle 2 kids.

P's exwife is giving us issues. She split up with her longtime partner/fiancee back in June and started dating some other girl right after. 3 weeks later they got engaged, and now they are etting married 2 weeks before us. Everyone in the family is sure it's a race and is all upset about it. I'm not. I figure if she's this good at racing to the altar, she'll probably be just as good about racing to the divorce lawyer ;)

That about wraps it up in my world. Things are going well and I hope to post some pics here shortly.

Hope you all are doing well and I'm about to dive into the boards and catch up on everyones stuff. LOL

We were going to use Lonestar Popcorn (the are local, but you can order from their website no matter where you live) and do flavored popcorns in apothecary jars. But A Jars at Hobby Lobby run $39-89 per jar and even at 50% off (during their glass sale) with having to buy 3-5 of them, that's a LOT of money to spend to hold not much $ worth of popcorn.

    <strong>So here's what we did.</strong>
<u>4 Bushel Baskets</u> like these: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Dozen-Apple-Baskets-Wooden-Handle/dp/B001397PEG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350943984&sr=8-2&keywords=bushel+basket" rel="nofollow">CLICK </a>(But we bought our from Hobby Lobby for $7.99 each plus 40% off)
    Basic <u>Lightly Salted Popcorn</u> from here: <a href="http://www.lonestarpopcorn.com/" rel="nofollow">CLICK</a>
    4 <u>Scoops </u>from here ($2.95 each): <a href="http://www.acemart.com/prod3782.html" rel="nofollow">CLICK</a>
    <u>Glassine Bags</u> from here ($18/100 bags): <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/105545385/bulk-100-large-glassine-bags-55-x-775" rel="nofollow">CLICK</a>
    <u>Salt Shakers</u> from here ($15.98/dozen): <a href="http://www.acemart.com/prod5194.html" rel="nofollow">CLICK</a>
    <u>Popcorn Seasonings</u> from here ($15.96/5 flavors): <a href="http://www.kernelseasons.com/web_offers.php?offer=1" rel="nofollow">CLICK</a>
Sign was a $12.99 chalkboard from Hobby Lobby then we used a 40% coupon from their website, then 2 white paint pens to freehand the writing, and we have this to hang over the table:

    <a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/0/12/c0aed3a9-bc28-4d75-8c33-797a2dc4ff96.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" class="PhotoLink"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/0/12/c0aed3a9-bc28-4d75-8c33-797a2dc4ff96.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

We also used some leftover black vinyl (you can buy it form <$10 on etsy) and a fancy shaped paper punch from the scrapbooking section, and cut labels to stick on the salt shakers and used a fine point white paint pen to write the seasoning names on them.

    Hope that helps!
