Wedding Food

I would love to hear what everyone is plannig for wedding food. Having a hard time coming up with an idea that is delicious and cost effective. We are definitely open to doing stations or all ordervs or something different.
Our first venue pick fell through but we have decided on a tent wedding at the golf course/ country club my FI grandparents belong to. They do not offer catering yet so we are allowed to bring in our own. Will have approx 225 guests so doing it ourselves isnt really an option?

We have decided on serve your self pie for dessert since we love doing things differnetly and my FI aunt owns a pie company :)

TIA!!

Re: Wedding Food

  • We are just doing typical banquet food as that is what our venue supplies. The cool thing is they said we can pick anything on their menu and if they dont have it on there and find something we are set on we can bring it to the head chef and he will see about makign that are meal. :)

  • Our venue comes with a caterer, so I already have a pretty good idea what's going to happen.

    Cocktail hour:
    5 passed apps
    Mashed Potatoes bar
    Sushi station

    Dinner Stations
Carving station- we're thinking a leg of lamb, since FI's family doesn't eat beef for religious reasons
Pasta station- we get three choices
    Grilled Fish station- thinking swordfish
Soup and Salad station- clam chowder and maybe a boston bibb salad

    Cherries Jubilee
    Cake
    Flaming Coffee drinks

    Maybe a late night something?

  • We're having BBQ food complete with a pig roast, lol. They've got a ton of choices for sides, so that'll be fun to pick.

For dessert, might do a donut bar along with assorted desserts.

Planning Bio-Added FOR SALE page, will be adding more stuff to it soon!
  • Since we are having less than 30 people, we're doing party platters (FI wants Chili's).

  • I just remembered that we can search each board specifically, so I apologize that this was asked back in Feb. I would love to hear if you came up with anything new though, you guys really are the best :)

FI and I have lots to discuss later!

We're having an endless cocktail hour reception.  There will be 20 passed hors d'eouvres for the entirety of the reception. There will also be stations set up & 4 passed desserts as well. The food will be never-ending :)

  • We haven't chosen yet, we were given like 10 menus to choose from but are waiting until our tasting in Feb. to make decisions. We want to be able to make sure it's good before we subject our guests to it :)

We are doing to buffet though, usually I hate buffets because they take so long but our venue gets the whole room through in under 20 and salads and rolls are served at the table.

  • We'll have a cocktail hour with different hors d'eouvres served and then we will be hosting a plated meal with two options, chicken and a vegetarian dish, that also includes a salad and a side with the main dish. We have our tasting in September to decide all the specifics. Our caterer has about 6 different chicken dishes so that should be good! FI and I might have something made special for us, like steak and salmon or something like that. I can't wait! I'm hungry just thinking about it!
