May 2013 Weddings

UGH now what...

I just got an email today from the Catering Manager/Primary contact at our venue/hotel letting me know that her last day was Friday and she took another position somewhere else... I am so upset as she was much of the reason for us choosing the venue that we did. Is there anything special that I should do? Not to mention I am getting married in Florida and live in Boston.. :( So I'm not even nearby... ugh just so bummed.

  • Where in Florida are you getting married?

  • Oh no! I've been dealing with this too....apparently the turnover rate at hotels, chapels, etc. in Vegas is VERY high. At least she had the decency to tell you, I have been left hanging quite a few times lol Did she give you info for her replacement? Hopefully they will be as good as she was.
  • There is no replacement yet :( She did give me the info for many different contacts at the hotel.

It's a hotel in Boca Raton.

  • I don't understand what your asking? She's choosing to leave the company she works for, for another. Why would you have to do something special for her? I'm sure there will be someone to replace her and they may even be better.

I had a similar experience the original woman I setup our interview with our venue had left the company only I was never made aware of it. Our current coordinator (her replacement) for the venue b/c we ended up choosing it, I hear is amazing!
  • You misunderstood me - I'm not asking if I need to do anything special for her. I'm asking all you girls opinion if you girls think there is anything I should do on my end to ensure everything is in place. Also, just venting.... We have been working with her for over 6 months, many discussions and have put many ideas into place together. She was very involved, so this is a big loss for us. I completely understand people leave and take other roles and opptys all the time, but again, this is a big loss for us since this is the biggest day of our lives and she was a big reason we chose the venue that we did. Again, really just venting.

  • I guess all you can do is keep in contact with the new person once they're hired, wouldn't hurt to forward them any email chains you have.

This. I would be freaking out too. Call the venue see if they already have a replacement you can get in contact with or they can contact you.
