Ugghhh- venting update

I felt the need to update you on, what will be, I'm positive, the longest freaking day of my life- FSIL's wedding day.

So apparently I am the only bridesmaid who is expected to go with her in her limo to the wedding and back after the wedding.  This is because she expects her brother (my FI) to do so too.  If FI goes with us in the limo, then I have no one to drive me home afterwards.  Which means I have the stay until the party is over at god knows what time.  The other bridesmaids aren't expected to go with her in the limo and she assumes that even if they do, their SOs will take them home afterwards.

I realize this is probably normal... but part of me was hoping to escape earlier in the evening...

Oh, and I'm going to her bridal shower after that whole fiasco earlier.  And she thinks she's my best friend again- oh joy.

That is all.

  • LOL!!!! She is a nutcase (maybe she is bipolar???) Why would she want you and your FI to ride back with her after the wedding? The last thing I would want is my bridal party in the same car with my new husband and I on our way to our wedding night... Just saying... Hopefully you can get out of having to ride with her. Only a few more months Mel hang in there!!!

<div>Ok, I'm glad I'm not crazy.  That's what I thought too!  I had no intention of having out wedding party ride back to the hotel with us!  They all have spouses to ride home with.</div>

  • Oh sweet potato friesssss. She is ridiculous.

Has FI asked her why she insists on having him/the two of you ride back in the limo with her? That actually makes no sense whatsoever. Can he get the two of you out of that? Something like, "I think you and FH will want your alone time after the wedding, even if you don't think so right now!" I totally understand about wanting to leave earlier than the end of the wedding--I have serious anxiety about staying the entire time at any wedding, as stupid as that sounds. I actually have a better time at weddings when I know I will get to leave at X hour because there is some stopping point. I have issues with the unknown. So, especially in this instance...I can see why you don't want to have stay the whole time.

What ended up happening with the bridal shower? How did that get worked out? Did the other girls fork over some cash after she turned all Maleficent on them?

  • I think it would be weird if we tried to back out of this.  Both sets of parents, groom's two children, and all 5 of the groom's sisters are going to also be in this limo back and forth.  Well at least she seems to think they are... I have a feeling they probably have other plans.  This is just such chaos.  I think I'll sit back and see how this particular cookie crumbles.  There will be other battles I'm positive.

    PJBHL5: LOL  Same here, girl!

Hahahah! That is what I was thinking. That's really weird that she thinks everyone should ride with her AFTER the wedding. I would just do like you said and see how the cookie crumbles. Maybe it'll be in your favor.

  • could you drop a car off at the reception hall the day before? that way it's there for after?

  • That is just weird.  Maybe it is just the norm here, but usually the limo is only to the church, to pictures and then to the reception.  The bride and groom usually take their own car or get driven to their hotel, etc but usually not by a limo.

That being said, can you have a relative drop a car off for you?  Catch a ride with someone else?  or even get a cab?
  • Thanks for reading, girls.  I think I'll try to arrange a getaway car with someone else just in case I want to leave earlier.  I just don't get her craziness!

  • Oi... I've been following you on this... I wholeheartedly agree with the PP!

When is the longest day of your life supposed to be? Hopefully it'll go by quickly enough and that you'll be able to find a ride with someone else!

  • She's wicked crazy.

Why does she want anyone else in the limo afterwards?
