Hey ladies!!
I'm having a hard time with our theme. We aren't having a hard time following, supplementing or sticking to our theme. It's more or less the people who scoff at our theme.
Our wedding is Fire Department/Firefighter Themed. My fiance has been a Volunteer Firefighter for 6 years. His dad was also a part of the Department my fiancee belongs to. His dad passed away from cancer in Sept 2010. I thought this theme would incorportate what my fiance LOVES (sometimes more than me --

JK!) & a way to have a piece of his dad there too. His whole side is wearing their Class A uniforms for the ceremony (which, btw, saved each of them $220 on a tux). We have a lot of things that are being put at the wedding, and everything that incorporates the FD/FF theme. After a year of being with my fiancee, I joined the volunteer community and joined his FD and I love it and am just as much a part of it as he is....
My bridesmaid, yesterday, as I was sharing with her what her son (the ring bearer) would be carrying (a sentimental firetruck w/ rings inside a lid that lifts up) told me it was such a bad idea & that he should be carrying a pillow...! I almost cried in the middle of the store we were in!
I just need a little bit of advice as to how to handle this criticism. I hate sounding like a broken record by saying "Whose wedding is this?" or "Sha_____ & Sha_____'s names are on the invites & wedding license".. I feel so terrible about having this theme when I thought it was such an amazing idea at the beginning....I just don't feel supported by anyone but my mom and fiancee about the theme! I just hate when people scoff at the things I've decied to do....
