Help me choose my ceremony site :)

My FI and I are having some problems with our ceremony location and it is really starting to get me upset.

We are having our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception at Perona Farms in Andover, N.J. We originally were going to have the ceremony in the apple orchard between two rows of beautiful apple trees. This past weekend however, when we went for brunch there, we noticed that the main tree that we were going to get married in front of looked it was half dead. Half of it was still beautiful and lush, but then the other half had all dying branches. Here is a pic:

Here is a picture of the orchard: (see the tree in the back)

I really love the orchard, but that dying tree is so unappealing that we looked around the orchard to see if there were any other options. We could either A) get married halfway down the orchard so the tree isn't that noticeable, B) get married in the orchard on a diagonal so the dying tree isn't the focal point or C) use a different tree that isn't in the orchard... this one:

Or, my parents suggested to use one of their other locations but I don't like either of them... FI likes them.

  • Maybe the tree will come to life by next yr? Lol ...I like the piazza and terrace, can't go wrong with either option.

Which ever option is picture number 2.

I voted for the other tree (option C). I think that would be beautiful & you could still have the candles hanging down from the tree like you said you wanted to do (which will be gorgeous)!

  • Thanks everyone for your opinions :)

Rdr, I was thinking the same thing! The only issue is that there is a tennis court behind us to the left side and also the entrance would be weird because the only entrance to the orchard is from the street, so I'd have to walk past everyone before I get to the aisle and then walk down the aisle.

Like, I'd have to walk down the orchard aisle first which would be parallel to the actual aisle because the other tree is close to the entrance. So I would have to walk past it and then come back down.

    Would that be weird?

  • I really like doing it in the middle of the orchard.  I think the orcahrd is gorgeous!

<div>Hmm maybe. I really like the idea of the aisle being out by the trees, but I feel like if you do it half way towards the "dead tree" it'll look off? I'm not sure the word I'm looking for. But I also haven't been to your venue in person so maybe it will look totally fine based on what's around it!</div>

  • Yeah, I see what you mean. I'm having the same thoughts about it... Decisions, decisions. I guess all we can do is just go back again soon and look at the two spots and go from there.
