Sweetheart table or head table?

Are you doing a sweetheart table or head table for your wedding? Im almost 100% sure that FI and I will opt for sweetheart table versus head table. We want this to really be "our time" and I dont want distractions of others around us to get in the way of that. There's going to be enough walking around, chatting, etc. What about you?

I wanted neither, but FI insisted on a head table...  Atleast got him to agree that we will have our wedding party on both sides of the table, like a family style seating.

We wanted a sweetheart table, but there is a pretty ugly wall that we don't want to draw attention to, so we are are going with a head table since it takes up more space on the wall.

Sweetheart table.

Primary reason is that I want everyone in the wedding party to be able to sit with their dates/SO's.
Plus, I figure FI and I will be going around to chat with all the guests throughout the dinner anyway, so I think it's better if we have our own table since we won't be at it much...

We are currently disagreeing on this.i want sweetheart, he wants a head table. I just don't think we'll be at the table much and I'd rather my party be able to sit with their significant others

I love the idea of a sweetheart table! That's what we're planning on doing since most of our WP have s/os or children so not all of them would be able to fit at a head table anyway.

We are doing a sweetheart table but including my MOH and her date, at FI's BM with his wife. We didn't want to be completely alone and since our MOH and BM are our best friend's, we wanted to include them. The rest of the WP will be able to sit with their families/ SOs this way because if we used the head table, we wouldn't have room for SOs.

I think the way my venue has it set up there are 2 tables up on the staged area, with the "sweetheart table" raised higher than the other (behind it), so we will be at that one and the BP will be right in front of us, slightly lowered.

Sweetheart. FI wants a head table, but when I asked him why, he just said because that's how all weddings are. Nope. Wrong answer. I want our WP to be able to sit with their SO's and other family members. Sitting down to eat at dinner will be our only alone time, and I want that time for us to sit back and take everything in with each other.

sweetheart table becaus1. like PP's said I want everyone to sit with their dates and 2. our part is entirely too large and I don't think our venue can accomodate a head table. So sweetheart table it is :-)

Neither.  We're sitting at a regular table with our parents and siblings.  I think the day is enough about you without sitting a position where everyone feels the need to stare at you while you eat.  It would make me nervous and uncomfortable to have a head table or sweetheart table.

Sweetheart table. Our venue already has a great little nook for it set up, and there is a pretty arch that they decorate to frame it nicely for pictures.

Haha I didn't realize until now there was a name for the table we wanted sweetheart table. We aren't having a huge wedding party and wanted MOH/BM to sit with SO or family.

Sweetheart table as well! I've been a bridesmaid at the head table before and I didn't like I was separated from my SO who didn't know anyone else there. Plus like to have some alone time if possible with the Hubs

We aren't really doing either. We are using feasting tables (long tables rather than round) and we will sit at one of those with our parents and siblings (and their dates/spouses). We were uncomfortable sitting alone and having everyone look at us eat, and we really wanted to spend that time with close family.

Also, I think I am confused about what a head table consists of...I see a lot of PP mentioned they were doing sweetheart tables because they wanted their WP to be able to sit with their dates, but I have only ever seen head tables that included WP and their dates. Is that not customary?

Funny that this topic came up because we just got done figuring this out. I orginally wanted a kings table with all of our WP and our immediate family and their dates. However, we decided to have a sweet heart table with two reserved tables next to ours that would be for our immediate families and WP to sit at. I dont like the idea of a head table and keeping people apart from their SO. So a Sweetheart table it is.
