Who gets ear infections??

So my nephew went home on Monday and I have been feeling a little under the weather so decided to go to the doctor yesterday to get it checked out so that I can visit him and not risk getting him sick.

I have a sinus infection and a double ear infection. Who gets ear infections at this age, I thought only kids got them! So I am on so much medication that I feel like a druggy every morning popping pills but hopefully I will get better.

Of course the doctor scolded me for waiting so long since I have asthma and he told me that I could have ended up with bronchitis again if I had kept waiting.

Re: Who gets ear infections??

  • My sister used to get these really bad ear infections a few years ago, and she's 27 now lol.

No matter how old you are, they suck! Hope you get better soon :-)

I had a double ear infection, sinus infection, and bronchitis / upper respiratory infection about this time of year a few years ago!  Inconvenient, since the peak of sickness was the first day of a new job!  So they sent me home and told me not to come back until I was better.  The doc pumped me full of antibiotics and fluids, and I was better enough to finish training within a few days--thankfully they liked me enough to wait for me to get better!

It's not terribly surprising to get an ear infection along with a sinus infection, since the tracts do connect (kind of a gross thought, though, that the drainage from the ear infection goes down the back of your throat... which can then cause the URI)

    Hope you feel better soon!!

  • I get ear infections all the time, and it sucks. It's gotten to the point that I don't even go see a doc unless it hurts REALLY bad because I'm afraid I will become immune to the meds. I have allergies as well, which might contribute to me getting them, but my ear tubes are also the size of a child's so that makes draining them really hard. Gross, I know, but true. =( Hope you feel better soon!
  • Did you know that everytime you suck in your boogers, it increases your chance on getting any type on infection in your head. My son had a ear and eye infection at the same time from sucking in his boogers.

  • I didn't get my first ear infection until I was an adult.....and boy was it PAINFUL!!!! Now I know why my daughter screamed so loud when she had one as a baby. Hope you feel better soon!
I also have asthma and tend to wait to see the dr, bad idea! I have found recently that if I go sooner than later I will be sick for a shorter period of time, especially when it comes to upper respiratory infections. Try taking Sudafed when the pain gets bad. It helps by relieving the pressure in your sinuses and ear canals.
