Picking out tuxes

We had an appt on Tues night to go pick out 3 tux designs for my FI to try out in his size.  I was thinking it would be a short, simple appt, but it took over an hour.  Who knew there was so much variety?  But, the fact that each bridesmaid is wearing a different color made it that much more difficult to find vest patterns that matched.  We go back on Saturday to have him try them on and model them for his parents.

The big disappointment was that he looked at the Savvi website ahead of time, and found an Allure tux that he liked, to find out that they aren't going to carry it until April.  Really?  Why would you put it up if you can't get it for another 5 months?

Men's Wearhouse was pretty straight to the point, there is a lot of variety with tuxes!

I don't know what it is about Savvi, but I've never liked them.

  • I don't know what Savvi is.  We got ours at a local tux shop.  What bothers me about most of the chain stores is that they don't have much to try on and see in person.  This local tux shop had a big variety and they have every tux available to try on.  FI tried on quite a few things before he decided what he wanted.

  • Fi wants to cover this on his own .... I gave him my preference tan color suit its perfect match for our beach theme and ladies bridesmaid dresses. I think he going start seriously looking in Jan timeframe.
  • We just went and choose ours for the wedding too. I went with my FI to the appt but I told him it was his choice he has to wear it not me. He has good taste so I knew I could trust his judgement. I also told him to get whatever he wants becuase its his day just like he told me about my dress. Of course it took forever, there wasnt a lot of examples to look at in the store howver there was alot in the books they offered. Regardless to say, our appt was like 90 mins he got exaclty what he wanted and they will look nice. I am happy with them. However anyone notice when you pick from a book (like Jims formal wear) where the bridal shop rents them from there is no price. Regardless to say we eneded up with the most expensive tux!!! Now we are wondering if we should shop around alittle bit for better prices. There is no reason a tux is going to cost just as much as the bridesmaids dresses!! Who knew this would be such a process, lol
  • Our shop has us look through the books, then they will order in 3 in his size so he can see which he likes best.  We're going in tomorrow to try them on, and do Jr Bridesmaids at the same time.  It'll be organized chaos.

On another note, does anyone know where we can find decent top hats for not much money?  We're looking for something that is sized....FI wouldn't go with the cheap top hats that were out for Halloween.
