A WAY Early Thought

So I posted on another board that I thought it was a good idea to mix the two families when planning seating arrangements, and people on that board thought it was a terrible idea.  What do we think of this idea?

My FI's family is very quiet and can keep to themselves easily.  I was hoping to have half a table be from my side and half of the table be from his side.  To me, weddings are about the blending of two famlies.  I always hate when I'm only seated with people that I see every darn day!  We just went to another wedding and sat with all new people and had a blast!

Thoughts?

I could see that either being a disaster, or like the great experience you had. I'd be mindful of the personalities you put together and making sure there's a mix of talkative and quieter people at each table.

ETA: Although in my position, my family's real talkative and so is FI's dad's side, so potentially mixing them together wouldn't be the worst idea. I guess I would err on the side of caution with your FI's family and keep them together.

  • I don't think it's a terrible idea but I would really consider where you think everyone would want to sit. Blending of the families is very important, but if you seat guests with other guests they are not familiar with, it may be awkward for them. Just something to think about..
