S/O rings...

Do you wear your rings with gloves? As the cold weather approaches, I've been thinking of this more- not sure what I'm going to do. I'm just concerned that the rings (specifically my e-ring) will snag on the gloves as I put them on and take them off. Sometimes I take them off and put them in my purse when I wear gloves, but then I worry about losing them by taking them off and on (irrational, I know). Anyone else have this fear?

Yep - I wear them.  Never had any issue.

When I lived up north, I wore my ring with gloves. Just don't take the glove off and fling it, KWIM? I just peel the glove off, LOL. I think the rings are safer on your hand than in your purse.

I total have the same fear! I get nervous taking it off and putting in my purse....i have a habit of losing things. I try to wear my ring with gloves to be safe but I am still constantly touching my finger to make sure it is still there...lol. I can't wait to hear what the other girls say! :)

That's how I feel Kwynn. Like, what if someone stole my purse for ex., and I had them in there? I'm more concerned with the stones becoming loose than with losing the rings due to wearing gloves.

I wear mine with gloves on a daily basis:) Actually, I go through about ten pairs of gloves a day. I'm just careful when I take the gloves off so that they don't pull my rings. I've only had them snag the gloves and tear them once or twice, so it's not really as big of an issue as people think it might be.

I think I would be more comfortable with them on and in gloves, I wear them with gloves when I color hair and that seems fine. Keeping it in my purse seems more dangerous (I've left my purse in grocery shopping carts many times though so that's just me)

I never worry about that. I wear my rings with gloves all the time in the winter. Your rings are definitely safer on your fingers than in your purse.

I always wear mine with gloves.  I just remove them carefully.

Yea, I'm careful too, just paranoid I guess!

If your center stone gets loose, you will know it. You can usually actually even see it. Do you have insurance on it?When I work in the deli doing sales, I only wear my band for that reason. I admit I am a little paranoid too about my rings because I'm sentimental. I have gone down to just wearing the bands I have when cooking, swimming, going to the beach, the theme parks, even doing a photo shoot because I am really rough on jewelry and get my e-ring constantly caught on things. Just make sure you have your prongs and such checked every six months and you will be okay!

I actually don't have insurance on it- we were talking about factoring that into our renter's insurance, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $ to get it appraised. I should have the prongs checked- I never do that. Oh, and both rings have stones- my wedding band has an emerald and amethyst (our birth stones). They don't sit up quite as high as the diamond in my e-ring though.

Huh. This is something I've never, ever thought or worried about. I've always worn rings, even before I got engaged and have had my e-ring for well over two years and have never had a problem, ever. And Kim, getting insurance on it is really, really smart. It's definitely worth the $$ to get it appraised. I just saw a coupon for jewelry appraisal for $39, so I'm guessing it's usually about $50? When I got mine, I got a card with it and stuff so didn't need it appraised. I do still need to get mine re-appraised since we changed the setting and added the wedding band. Unless your ring costs less than the cost of the appraisal, I'd say do it asap! ;-)

I know, I've got to get on it...I heard that it's normally around $75, at least around here. I might wait til Christmas though to get it done at a store I trust in PA. We'll see. They aren't expensive rings, but they definitely cost more than the $ to get them appraised.

When we got my e-ring, the apprisal was thrown in for free but that might have been because it was a custom ring where we picked out all the stones ourselves. When DH added the ring to our car insurance policy, it raised our insurance like $6 a month so it's not bad at all!  I know you guys don't have a car down there but it can't be that much to add to your renter's insurance. Def. get it done ASAP.

Ditto PP with appraisals. Try calling wherever DH got yours from, they usually will give for free. We even put dfs band on policy just because he is more apt to lose than mine - adding our bands only raised renters like $20 a year. We didn't get an appraisal on his, just used the receipt since there are no stones.

We should probably get an appraisal on his as well, since this has stones just like my wedding ring. The problem with getting them appraised at where we purchased them is location. Getting his appraised is no big deal b/c the jewelry store that made it is right across from my parents' house. But he actually had my e-ring and wedding band done at a gem shop in OH, which I know we cannot get back to anytime soon. Since it's not a jewelry store, I don't even know if they'd appraise them.

Try giving them a call, Kim, to find out. I called my 2nd jewelry store for an appraisal & they sent one to me. In my situation it wouldn't be accepted for the insurance (since I got part of it at one store, and the rest at another store, and both stores would only give the appraisal for what they sold us, if that makes sense).
