May 2013 Weddings

Bridesmaid gifts.

So I ordered these really cute totes off here last year on clerance. Got them really cheap. I also ordered my girls some cute jewlery that I got an awesome deal on. My whole wedding party get a personalized shot glass.

I am just not happy with just giving my girls a tote and jewlery. They have done SO much for me and putting up with me. But none of them are super girly (except one) and I just can't think of ANYthing else to maybe add to there totes.  I have gotten the suggestion lotion, but to me that isnt anything too exciting plus what girl doesn't have stock pile of lotion in her bathroom.

So i am open to any ideas, but nothing with a crazy price tag either. I would rather give them more, then 1 big thing. So throw it out there. TIA

Re: Bridesmaid gifts.

  • I shopped for mine like it was their birthdays. I got a bunch of little things for each of my BMs that they would like. I'm doing the Color Run in July here in the Twin Cities with one of my BMs so a few things from their online store. I've spent about $40 on each BM. I'd also go on Etsy and literally type in 'Bridesmaid Gifts', TONS of stuff will come up and you can branch off from there.

  • I got each of my bridesmaid: a tote from christmas tree shoppe with their initial (5.99), wedding jewelry (pearl earrings and bracelet off of etsy), a small clutch (off of etsy), a pashmina shawl (our date is May 3rd so it might be chilly, $6 online), and then I got each one of them something different....  Alex and Ani bracelet for one (she has mentioned she really wants one!), a small jewelery roll of off etsy (for the one who loooves jewelery and travels a lot), a small coach wristlet (bought at an outlet), a personalized wine glass for the one who loves wine, two sweaty bands (they're hairbands that stay up on your head when you're working out, and I love them) for the one who is into working out, and for my maid of honor I splurged a little and got a set of colored pencils in a leather roll up (she is a doctor and draws a lot of drawings for journal papers etc.)
My advice would be for that little something, think of each girl individually and think what she might like and what she maybe mentioned she wants... you could also go with certificates (movie theater, restaurant, spa)
    Good luck :)
I am very happy to be done with this part.

  • I got them personalized tote bags and am putting several things in them. My main color is purple so I'm putting a purple bath sponge, purple either lotion or soap (haven't decided), and probably some cute jewelry that will have purple on it. I'm also getting them each a gift card to a favorite place of theirs ($20 or so), and a favorite snack & drink.
I'm happy with these choices and I think my girls will like them. They'll also each get a thank you card, and I'll probably get my MOH a little something extra.

  • I got personalized weekender bags from TK before Christmas for really cheap. I then bought them a necklace for the wedding and a floral robe in their favorite color for getting ready the morning of the wedding. The robes from etsy were only $25 a piece plus shipping and I got the necklaces on eBay for $7 a piece.

  • I will probably get them either a hair accessory or  shoe clips (www.absolutelyaudrey.com) to wear in the wedding. Other than that, I love experience gifts so I am treating to mani-pedis the day before the wedding and a small brunch.

I was in a wedding in October and the bride gave us all pashimas (a GREAT gift for a chilly day), braclets and earrings. She also treated us all to a really nice brunch out the morning of the wedding (her ceremony was not until 6).

  • When you walk in to stores that sell personalized and unique bridesmaid gifts, you will see different kinds of items that you can pair up with to make a basket of goodies for all your girls. This may contain a tank top with the title “bridesmaid” on it, a pair of flip flops, a bottle of lotion and cologne. You can choose any items you want to put in the basket as long as it can give benefits and smile to your girl friends.
  • I also got a tote bag and earrings, I added a pair of flip flops to dance in at the reception if they want to take their heels off and am paying for part of their hair and makeup costs on the day of as well as their pedicure the day before.
  • I did a coach wristlet for each of them and filled each of theirs with something that was very personal or based on their personality. Jewelery, Gift Certificate to get nails done, favorite restaurant gift certificate, nail polish, etc. Also got them all sweatshirts to start with.
