disposable table cloths

Just wondering your idea  We are renting a firehall for the reception and have to clean up afterwards. Is it tacky to have table cloths that can be thrown away? It is not super formal, we are having it catered with pulled pork sandwiches. Thanks for the input

Re: disposable table cloths

  • IMHO I wouldn't do disposable table cloths it takes away the feel of a wedding and would seem more like a picnic. Although your wedding is not super formal I would still do a white or ivory tablecloth on the table.

  • I guess it would depend on the kind of material the tablecloth was made of, and the feel you're going for at your wedding. I personally don't like plastic tablecloths for anything but a young child's birthday party. That being said, there are disposable tablecloths made from other materials that might look nice if you are going really casual. You may be able to rent real ones for around the same price you would pay for nicer disposables.

  • I'm going to say: do what you want.

My reception is being held in a community center. We are also doing very informal food. We are having disposable table cloths.

Sometimes I think coming on the knot and reading posts is giving me a complex, because I feel like my wedding isn't up to everyone else's standards. Would I love to have real linens? Sure! Would I like to have fancier food? Absolutely! But I also know that I don't have the money for those things.

It is costing me 90% less to go the disposable route and honestly if I rented/bought linens it would simply outshine the food. I may not be hosting the grandest wedding my guests have ever been to. But I do know that I am hosting them properly with food and drink (although no alcohol) which is all I am required to do, even if it's not up to the wedding industries standards.

If your budget allows for it and it's something you want, then by all means go the cloth route. But I know personally that my guests wouldn't want me to go into debt so that they can have cloth opposed to plastic covering their tables (and if they do, then their opinion really doesn't matter to me).

well said u made my day saying this. I love getting great advice but sometimes feel the same way. We are doing everything ourselves and my FI has been off work due to neck surgery for 3 months. I dont want to slurge and get table cloths just because, and we have to clean up so i figured it would be eaiser. Thanks
