Uplighting?

So i asked my DJ about uplighting at our reception...and was informed it would be an extra $700.  Is it really worth it to have uplighting?  Below are pics of my reception venue with and without uplighting.

I think your venue looks amazing even without the uplighting--I love those lights they have hanging! So no, personally, I don't think the $700 would be well spent.

Honestly, I haven't heard of uplighting around here for less than $800, which I think is crazy!  I think your venue looks gorgeous without it.  I would skip it.

I purposefully found a venue that already had good lighting options built in.  Also, for $150 I can have the perimeter of the entire room lit in candle light, which we're doing.  It's May, so it won't be dark for that long during our weddings anyway.

Maybe you can compensate by having centerpieces with candles in them. Something like this. (I used the same ones shown here at the reception of my 1st marriage and it was great lighting)

I am a little biased b/c we are having uplighting and I really like the effect. Ours is only $25 per uplight, which I thought was really reasonable. Your venue looks gorgeous either way!

Uplighting is beautiful. But the venue by itself is awesome. I say no.

I am 100% pro uplighting! I think it really changes the venue. 

For me, it was a must. But if it isn't something that is that important to you, then you can nix it and even allocate that money to something that is more important to you whether it be the food or the favors.

thanks everyone!  i'm thinking because of the cost we are going to skip the uplighting.  we are having candles on the tables, so i think that will help a little . also, i'm hoping the city lights might actually  look prettier without the uplighting....heres a pic of what our view will be!  it looks out over dowtown indianapolis, we are on the 36th floor of the building.
