Step siblings part in wedding?

My mom is newly remarried and I now have a step sister that is only a few months older than I am. I'm not close enough with her to have her in my bridal party but, I would like her to play a role in it. Can I have her hand out programs or something? We really don't have any readings that we want done for the ceremony.

Sure! She could be an 'usherette' (don't know if that's right, lol) or help set up decorations if you don't have a DOC.
