Re: Where's everyone at?

  • Ive been working hard to get deposits to everyone (venue, dj, cake, photog). Im using my credit card (for points) to make all deposits, so Im playing the charge, pay, charge again game. I should have all deposits paid by the end of the week.

My next major item I need to work on is finalizing my printed items (menu, program, invite, placecards) so I can get them all printed using my groupon / coupon code for Vistaprint. This, of course, is more complicated because I still don't know what my order of events for the program will be or the finalized menu. Ugh...

  • Hi there.

Right now I'm not really doing anything WR. I think we're going to register in a couple weeks. Macy's is having a thing where if you register on October 4th you're entered for some gift card drawings so I think we'll register there and at Bed, Bath, & Beyond at some point also.

I feel like I don't have much to do, honestly. All of the big stuff is booked. I'm not really doing any DIY except preparing corks to use as escort card holders. I'm feeling strangely wedding-bored if that makes any sense at all.

I'm having doubts about our centerpieces. The lanterns we bought are 17" tall. They're difficult to see around when they're in the middle of the table. FI thinks they're fine and I'm having doubts. I have about another 2 months to really decide (3 months to return stuff at Ikea) so we'll see what happens.

Very smart with the CC, mama! I'm doing that too. I'm hoping to have a second free plane ticket by the time of the wedding if we end up being able to take a honeymoon. Could you order everything but the finalized menu, then get them later with the type of sale going on today? I bet it would be less stressful that way. I feel really good in where I'm at right now. All the vendors are booked, my bmaids dresses came in way early, wedding night tree house is reserved. Yes, a treehouse! : I have almost everything ordered and sitting in my basement. The biggest things left is to assemble the invitations, figure out a seating chart, wood burn all guest names onto their favors that will take foreverrr, assemble the welcome bags, and LOSE WEIGHT! : I really feel like I'm running out of stuff though. It's nice cause its not stressful, but I'm not looking forward to the day being over. I mean...I am. I'm SO ready to be the wife of the most amazing man I've ever met. I'm just saying that I think after looking forward to the day all my life, I'll be sad it's over. I guess I'll just have to focus on home decorating then. Lol. Edit after reading RDRs post: I feel ya girl! I'd love to see your lanterns, will you post a picture?

  • We've actually been house hunting so WR stuff is at a halt right now. Our lease isn't up until the end of next June but we're trying to figure out what both of us like, the neighborhood we want to live in, etc. He wants a man cave wth! I asked where 's my woman cave and he told me the kitchen or bedroom lol

Haha! Mine wants the same thing. He said I can decorate the entire home how I want, except his man cave! When we registered, he was adding things to decorate his man cave. I love him. :

  • I am working on getting out our STDs and then DIY stuff. Chalkboards, personalized hangers, designing the table numbers and looking for plates to buy. I designed the invites, inserts and menus on Vista Print so they match, just waiting to talk to our officiant before we finalize the timeline.

Life is pretty much just work with a lot of family gatherings on the weekends. Preparing for my sisters 18th b-day in a couple of weeks- I am doing all the food!

Also hoping to buy a new bow soon so FI and I can start shooting league together! We went to the archery shop last night to look at one for me and FI ended up finding his new one, so he is super pumped :)

  • I went shopping with my MOH for BM dresses yesterday, so today I'll email our top choices to the rest of the girls and have them try them on and pick their favs. My dad dropped off the flower deposit last week, so that's checked off too.

Currently, I'm trying to get both families to give me addresses so I can get the STDs out. I also need to make an appointment with our travel agent to see if they can do any better than what I've found for our honeymoon or if they have any other ideas. My FI needs to apply for his passport soon for that too.

Oh! I LOVE that! So you think there might be a chance you won't use them? Do you have an idea of what other type of centerpiece you are looking for or are just open to anything as long as it strikes your fancy? Will you have a few flowers surrounding the base?

  • Rachel, we're using battery operated lamps on half of our tables.  We bought and returned probably 6 of them before we found ones we could afford that were tall enough to clear the sight-line.  32" seemed to be the magic number.  I originally bought a 17" lamp and it completed blocked the view across the table.  As a guest, that woudl annoy me.  How about just using the smaller size?

Here's what's been going on in our wedding world:
    1. For the past few weeks we've been going back and forth with the invitation folks to design our invites.  It's taking a long time, so I'm glad we started very early so I didn't have to rush and we can get exactly what we want.
    2. Last night I stuffed little organza bags with biodegradable confetti for the send off.
    3. Friday we have our first official planning meeting at the venue with our coordinator.
    4. I picked a font that we're going to use for our seating charts, menus, and other signs.  I want to the make the sign for the send off soon.

Phew that seems like a lot but because we're doing it all so early and can take our time, it doesn't seem stressful at all.

  • I'm thinking if we do return the large ones then we'll end up getting the smaller ones and I figure we can sit them on something to make them appear smaller.

We aren't planning on having flowers on the tables (to keep the florist cost down). My "vision" is the latern in the center with 3 pillar candles inside, sitting on a piece of grey fabric, with ivory rose petals scattered around and a few votives also.

I'm afraid the smaller ones will be TOO small :(

  • @sharp He even said he'll covert the garage into his cave...umm where is my car going to go?! Lol rdr I love those, so romantic ;)@rswans That reminds me, we both have to get our passports. How long does it take to get them?
  • Friday, I have a meeting with my wedding planner. I finally picked our STD and invites on Etsy. Just waiting to take our EPics next month. Went to Costco to look at babies breath flowers for my centerpieces. If you don't buy them in bulk, you buy them per bunch. A bunch is about 10stems and I would need about two and a half bunches to make the centerpieces full. They're $2.50/bunch. So now, we're seeing if its cheaper to buy 100 stems in bulk or buy them per bunch. More than likely going with the bulk. So all in all we're getting babies breath, red roses and ivory calla lillies in bulk. I need to do a mock-up centerpiece. My BMs have all decided to buy their dresses the weekend after Thanksgiving, except one. Her dress budget isn't as high as the other 4 girls, so we're going this Sunday. David's Bridal is having a sale until the 24th and they have BM dresses as low as $29. But all of those are ugly. =/ So we'll see how that goes.

  • WR stuff is somewhat at a stand still. Right now I'm prepping a lot of DIY projects and buying supplies. The past 2 evenings have been spent seperating the beads by size and color for my bouqets.

NWR I am starting on my DIY projects for my sister's baby shower.
May 2013 October Siggy - The Honeymoon Walt Disney & Daytona Beach imageFollow Me on Pinterest
  • My WR stuff has slowed down the past 2 weeks becuase I've been helping my niece who is getting married next week.  I'm also waiting till her wedding is over to take care of a few of the last things on our list.  Namely, cake.  She's using a bakery that a lot of people have recommended to me, but I don't think I'll be convinced to try them until I see how her's turns  out.

I did pick our flowers and booked the florist, and I've been shopping around ideas for our rehearsal dinner.  I think we're getting together this weekend with my future in-laws so we can determine what, if anything, they are going to cover with the rehearsal dinner and we can get our budget in line.

I'm doing a little experimenting before next week's wedding.  We're trying a local beauty school for manicures and pedicures, and I'm going to get a spray tan for the first time.

Oh, and I negotiated with the place where I bought my dress to get them to price match our bridesmaid dresses with another local store.

Posted by bburkel[/QUOTE] BB There's a few things you can do that will increase a successful spray tan. When you take the shower before your tan, exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! I recommend taking a shower the night before your tan and lotion yourself up. Do NOT put lotion on if you will be going the same day. Obviously, doing it the night before gives it time to soak in. You want to exfoliate so you slough off all the old skin cells and it will extend the life of your tan. For your first time I recommend getting the lightest shade. If that's not enough, try the darker shades next time. Are you doing a mystic tan where you go in the booth and are sprayed automatically or will a person be spraying you manually? If it is a mystic tan in a booth, they will have you watch a video first. I suggest looking mystic tan up on YouTube and watching it beforehand just in case. You'll want to apply the barrier cream to your hands and feet. If you have long nails, even under the nail. Then when you come back out after being sprayed use the baby wipes that should be available to you to wipe your hands and feet. Do this well, otherwise it will be darker around your knuckles and ankles an look bad. Don't wipe it off your ankles...just your feet. Golly...I am so talkative today. I'm sorry to bore you if you already know all that. I've been a spray tan maven for years and picked up those tips through trial and error. Have fun!

pnutbutr: It's supposed to take 4-6 weeks at the moment, but it can fluctuate throughout the year. They advise to get it at least 10 weeks ahead of time or to get rush shipping, which can still take a month or so.

rdr: I think those small lanterns are the same ones I'm having! The venue provides them and they're probably in the 10 inch range. We're having them on napkins (though tree slices were an option) with candles inside and petals scattered around the outside of the lantern. Like this, but white table cloth, grey napkin, and plum petals.

    Ok thanks!
  • WR-I just ordered my garter two days ago.  I found it on etsy and fell in love.  Also my aunt and great aunt are throwing my FI and I an engagement party next Saturday so that's exciting.  We're hopefully putting down the deposit on the honeymoon soon as well.

NWR-I've been working and had two exams this week.  Plus FI's grandpa is not doing well at all so it's been a little rough.

Thanks for the tips.  I really have no idea going into this thing.  I stopped by Golden Tan the other night to ask about it.  They are having me do it 2 days before the wedding, and I think they manually apply the spray.  I rarely get color as it is, but I happened to get fried over the 4th of July, but had a t-shirt on, so I don't really want to be sporting the farmer tan in my bridesmaid dress.
  • My dress was in last week yay! Other than that getting my STD's ready for the mail. 239 days and counting!
