RSVP Date

The post below reminded me that I want your opinions on my RSVP date. I am having a destination wedding, so I planned on sending the invites 8 weeks beforehand. I had the RSVP date be a month before the wedding, but I will be moving to a different state AND dealing with wedding stuff and could do so much more with a semi accurate guest count sooner.

Also, the date our hotel block expires is 2 weeks before the RSVP deadline. To account for this, I have changed the RSVP date to 8 weeks before the wedding and will be sending out the invites 11 or 10 weeks in advance.

This is already done. Invites are printed and cannot be changed. I have a small number of invites that I had dated for a RSVP deadline of 1 month in case we get too many declines so I can still send out a few invites to people we want there, but can't until we get declines. I know that's bad etiquette, but at this point I don't care because everyone knows the list is mostly family and only a few friends will be invited.

I probably shouldnt ask for opinions on the date I have for the rsvps being too far out...but I am. Please be gentle.

Re: RSVP Date

  • i think this is completely fair considering it is a destination wedding
  • I'd say it's fair since it's destination.  I'm pretty sure you'll end up having to call people and ask them if they're coming or not though.  That happens no matter when the RSVP date is.

  • You all are so good to me. : Thanks for agreeing with me. And yes, no matter what, I'll still be harassing people for their answers.

  • 1 month out is fine especially being a destination wedding. Ours is April 20th, the caterer needs a final count no later than May 1st, and the bakery my May 5th.

  • I think you're fine.  I did our rsvp date kinda early - my venue coordinator suggested it actually.  Our wedding is considered a destination wedding for most of our guests - rsvp date is 5 & 1/2 weeks before wedding (anyone coming should have thier flight booked by then anyway!).  Plus we also have a list of hopeful round 2 invites...
