May 2013 Weddings

Officially booked!! Seeking advice

Hi ladies, so my fiancé and I got engaged back in August of 2011 and just booked our wedding today for next may 2013..ahhhh only 10 months away!! Seeking any and all input on where we should start first with our wedding plans!

Re: Officially booked!! Seeking advice

  • Find a venue! A lot of venues book up early, and look for major vendors (caterers, photographers, DJ), if you need help book a wedding planner.

  • Congratulations!!! Def agree with a venue 2 of my choices for reception were booked the day I wanted so I moved it up two weeks. Start looking at dresses, It's the best part :. I know they are all different some come in in a month and some four months!! The checklist on the knot is very helpful!! Happy planning :

All the big tickets items. Venue, photographer, DJ and ceremony location. Not long after I'd start with florist and dress shopping.

  • I'd definitely find a venue first, May & June are the most popular months for weddings. You really can't do much else until you find a place, lol!

  • I'm assuming when you say that you "booked your wedding" this means that you booked your venue.  Next up is photographer, DJ, dress, and caterer (if that's not included in your venue).

Not to early for dresses! alot of us have them already...i just picked up mine this week and was SO excited since I ordered a size down from what I tried on in the store.  Its a tiny bit tight right now, but in a go running a bit more kindof way.  I was worried it would be way to small.

Anyway, I'm from Philly originally, and I first went shopping for a dress there with my mom.  There is a dress shop in Ardmore, on the main line that has used/and consignment/samples.  I didn't end up getting a dress there, but I would recommend it! The dresses were in great condition and the consultants were very helpful.  It was my first time trying on dresses and they were great. http://www.sabrinaann.com/  Thats the link.

  • Congrats!

Ditto PP - start looking into all other major vendors (dj's, photography, etc).

It's never too early to dress shop! Especially as different stores have different time frames in which is needed to order the dress.
