Wedding Favor Idea

So I have been thinking a lot about wedding favors and I think I want to give a donation to the American Cancer Society instead of a traditional favor. My FI's mom passed away almost 4 years ago from colon cancer and I think it would be a nice way to kind of honor her (as well as other things we have planned). What do you guys think?

I think that is a beautiful idea. I think your FI and his family will be touched by your thoughtful favor.

I like the idea of you making a charitable donation instead of getting favors that guests would more than likely not take with them. I guess I'd be mindful of not being AW-y about it, if that makes sense?

You could have a framed note by your card box or guestbook saying that you made a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of his mom. Don't even have to say that you spent money on that instead of favors. Besides, that's no one's business anyway.

Well actually the American Cancer Society gives you favors (like little cards to give to people) with your donation and whatever wording you choose. I want to go with something like

In lieu of favors a donation has been made in your honor to the American Cancer Society in loving Memory of (FI's Mother). I don't think that's too much. I've seen some that have gone on and on I just want a simple one that is to the point.

I think thats a perfectly fine note. I wouldn't take it badly if I recieved that but thats just my opinion.

We are doing that in honor of our deceased family member who had cancer!

I just felt like the favors are hardly ever memorable so I might as well spend money on something that is actually a good cause...ya know?

Another option is a site like Charity USA, where you can buy gifty type things, and a large % of the sale goes to a charitible organization.

That is such and AWESOME IDEA. I just lost my gpa in January due to lung cancer and is really one of the worst experiences I could ever go through, but i was trying to thing of ways to represent my gpa (because he was more of a dad to me) and I find this to be an awesome idea..I may just kinda use your idea too if you dont mind.

that is a great idea my FI (mother) past away this year from lung cancer. I think I may want to use to same idea. Good Luck! & COngrats on your engagement. When is your wedding??
