Semi Check... Mini Vent too... (PIP)

Today I got my my MOH and one of my bridesmaids (my sister) to go shopping for their dresses. I am super excited that they both loved the same dress... It will be in marine which is a navy blue. Now I have two more bridesmaids to go which are FI sisters... I told him since the other two liked the same dress why not just say this is the dress. This dress is very figure flattering too.  Now here is the problem I told FI before that my only stipulations were they had to be the same color and same fabric. He had the nerve to say that the fabric doesn't have to match!!!!!!! I told him that would look tacky to have 2 people in chiffon and another person in satin and someone else in cotton!!! I don't know what he is thinking!!!! So whenever FI's sister comes in town we have to start dress shopping all over again hoping they love this dress if not back to drawing board we go...

  • That's a super cute dress. I really like it. You're the bride. You pick the dress. Not to say that you shouldn't make sure your bridesmaids are happy or that the dress will look good on all of them, but ultimately it is your decision. I think all the same dress looks streamlined and clean. I really hate all different dresses, but that's just my opinion. I went to great lengths to ensure the dress I chose looks just as good on my size 6 bestie as it does on my size 16 cousin. And it does.

  • I like the different dress thing, but I agree it would look weird to have two girls in one dress, and other two in two different dresses.  You could have two in one and two in one other dress, all of them in different, or all in the same.  Here's hoping they like this dress!

  • Boys don't always understand the things we find important. (speaking from experience here) I think the one you posted a picture of is very cute and definitely re-wearable.

I had a little dilemma with my girls simply because they're in 3 different states. (Seattle, Fargo, MN) They're all different body shapes too. If they all lived here by me or say in Fargo we could have coordinated a weekend where we all go shopping together and pick one. I decided to pick a color at Davids Bridal and since there's a store where they all live, they can pick the style they like.  2 of 3 have ordered and they're long strapless a-line styles. My sister will be getting hers next week.

    Good luck!

  • One of the things the lady who helped me said was if one girl picked satin dress they all had to be in satin because the color dye is diff with another material. I would maybe call her explain what happened over the phone.
  • That's the same dress my girls are getting (in black)!

I have a MOH in a different state from me and two bridesmaids in two different cities, so dress shopping was difficult. I ended up going with each of them seperately and narrowed it down each time. I told them that if they wanted the same dress that was fine, but I was okay with the same color in different styles.

My MOH was the first to try on dresses and she picked this dress, so I told everyone else that I would prefer chiffon (I agree with you about the same fabric looking best). Surprisingly, at each appointment each girl picked this dress as her favorite without any problems. It made everything really easy!

Here's hoping you have similar luck!
