frustrated and a bit frantic

I went to look at my second choice for ceremony sites tonight with the FI and my fam.  No one was that thrilled with it.  The first choice I wasn't thrilled with.  So my options are to settle for a place that is ok or to change my date to September to get the ceremony site I originally wanted.  I have already changed my date from June to May to get the reception site.  Should I change it again???  I am a bit overwhelmed to say the least.  The only things I have put deposits on are the reception venue and the photographer and they are both flexible.

So should I change the date yet again???

Re: frustrated and a bit frantic

  • What type of ceremony sites are we talking about?  I'm not wild about ours, but I'm going to decorate it.

  • Can you look at more ceremony spaces?
  • I mean we changed our date from July to May (which was awesome cause I wanted a sooner wedding), but we hadn't booked anything else by that point yet.  You should consider looking at one or two other ceremony sites just to see if there's anything else you like without having to move your date back.  Also it's just a ceremony site.  You can always decorate it.

Honestly I'm in the middle about ours.  It's not the most amazing place in the world.  It's nice.  And it'll do since we're having a super short ceremony.

  • I'd look at more locations. Surely there's something you'll love :)

  • Its each person's preference, but I gave more importance to my reception venue than my ceremony. Mostly because my ceremony will last all of 15 minutes, but my reception will be much longer. If you are not in love with the two sites, do not compromise if it is important to you. Keep looking and hopefully something wonderful will come up. You may want to consider changing the date if you have not sent out STDs and if your reception venue is willing to shift your reservation if another date is available.

I wouldn't change the date again, that's just setting yourself up for more stress and heartache. Decor can do wonders to any space.

  • I'd check more places before changing the date again. Have you posted on your local board for ideas?

  • First, thank all of you for your input :)  I am looking for something that is out of the ordinary, there are also a few specific things my FI wants (indoors and non religious) unfortunately most everything is booked for our date.  It will most likely be a short ceremony and I don't want to spend a huge portion of my budget decorating.  I will try posting on the local board and see if there are suggestions.  Thanks ladies.
