What WR items are you getting rid of or scaling back on to save money?

We're not having favors, a DOC, videographer, a traditional wedding cake.

And instead of a plated dinner, we're doing a buffet.

We are having a the wedding and reception at my Aunt's house and she isn't charging us so we are saving a lot this way and this also allows us to buy our own alcohol which can cost a lot at other venues.

However now we have to pay to bring in tables, bathrooms, chairs, etc. so I'm not sure how much cheaper it actually is.

We are going very laid back with our RD. No DOC (but that is mainly because we have a coordinator at our church and reception site, and our photographer prides himself on making sure things run smoothly the whole day).

I don't really think we are cutting out anything else, but we just have friends/family doing a lot of stuff for us (cake, flowers, videography, alterations, hair and makeup, stds, invitations, and anything else paper related) so we are getting heavy discounts. This has helped us so much!

So far we dropped the candy buffet. It was going to be DIY anyhow so I hope we can add it back in. May scale back on what we are hosting for bar servicing.

We were debating between 2 caterers and so after the 2nd appointment we went back to the 1st and told them what we were offered. They came back with a credit towards late night pizza or cocktail apps! Plus with a 2 meat, 3 side, salad & bread buffet for 21.95 it was hard to turn down.

We might do cupcakes instead of traditional cake.

I am not doing flowers. Fake ones for bouquets and candle centerpieces. I have kept the budget low for decor in general because my venue has a lot of character on its own and because I care more about the experience than the look of the place

We're not having a videographer. 

We're still undecided on the rehearsal dinner but leaning towards not having one. 

We wanted to switch out the chairs for the reception because I don't love the ones at the venue but I'm not sure that we're doing that anymore either.

We're using cheaper flowers.  We aren't having a videographer, and we changed our mind about having a candy buffet.

I cut down my photog cost by not getting a photobook and I'll DIM on shutterfly. I always get coupons for them.

Im not getting a limo to carry us to a site for outdoor pics. We will have FI aunt carry WP in her van and toss her 20 for gas and FI and I will just ride with photog.

I also decided to do silk flowers for my BP, GP's, and Parents floral arrangements and have no floral arrangements for the ceremony or recpetion. Only I and FI will have real flowers in our bout and bouquet.

No florist, using bulk flowers from Costco. No restaurant rehearsal dinner, it will be a regular dinner at FMILs house. No photobook from photog. May not have a limo, may just rent a car. Not sure about that one yet.

No favors; videographer; uplighting; DOC/planner; we're DIYing almost all the paper goods and some other stuff; half of our centerpieces are lamps, instead of flowers, which was a lot cheaper

We're skipping the videographer. We've also scaled down the flowers so it's just bouquets and two centerpieces for the front of the ceremony that will be moved to the reception and  single stems of gerbers in (venue provided) bottles on half the tables (3 per table). I think our RD is going to be somewhat relaxed too- dinner in another room at the ceremony venue. 

Otherwise, we haven't really scaled back on anything, just found good vendors at great prices.

I ended up knowing a lot of people that cut us great deals so I didn't have to really scale back on anything which was kind of exciting.

I am still trying to scale back the guest list though since they're not mailed yet lol

No videographer, no favors, no real flowers, buying only things WR on sale. We may be cutting back on our menu but will decide after we go for the tasting tomorrow evening.

We are DIY our centerpieces no real flowers so saving approximately 600, rd will be at either my house or fmil, no limo to place as we are 20ish min away give or take, all I can think of for now but prolly few little things.

We aren't having limo service. We may rent a trolley instead...which is more economical and holds more people.

We cut out uplighting, are doing DIY favors, cheaper flowers than the peonies I wanted and beer/wine only bar. If we magically come up with extra money we may upgrade things a bit like the alcohol and flowers but that's not likely!

Skipping a videographer

DOC (which I really want, might save extra in order to have one), videographer, cake ( cupcakes instead), no wedding party, no flowers (not a big fan, having a brooch or paper bouquet)....can't think of anything else

I'm doing a lot of things myself. The bridesmaids bouquets, the paper stuff, the favors, some of the desserts and the cake, etc. We're also not doing a lot of decor. It's in an art gallery with beautiful big windows, so there isn't a lot of need for decor. IDK what we're really doing, but we're not going big on flowers- I'm growing ym own lavender for the BM bouquets, so the only thing done my a pro florist is my bouquet.
