Hello everyone! I've been lurking around the boards for a while and thought I would introduce myself.

FI and I are getting married on 5.4.13, a date we chose at least partially because it's Star Wars day :) We will both be starting our MBA programs in June, so we decided to get married in May rather than waiting until October. We got "officially" engaged on vacation this past October, but we have been discussing and planning since late July.

My family is from NY while his is from St. Louis, and we are having the wedding in Cleveland where we now live. When we get married, we will have been together 2 1/2 years. We've lived here for 1 1/2 years with our puppies, who will definitely not be in the wedding.

    <div>Oh man, don't get my FI started. Although, in theory, Disney couldn't be much worse at maintaining the integrity of the original movies than Lucas was, so maybe we'll just get more cool stuff from it!</div><div>

    I'm definitely not happy about it, but let's be honest, I'm sure I'll go see the movie(s). 

    I'm sure he was stoked!  I didn't know that existed, but I'm going to have to keep that from my FI or he'll be begging for it.

    Welcome! It sounds like we're in a similar boat-- we had a deposit on a venue in August, were officially engaged (as in there was a ring on it) in October and are also getting married May 4th. And both families are from states other than the one where we're saying I Do.

    Oh wow, carpenters, that does sound very similar. FI and I are weirdly practical, to the point where we agreed that marriage made a lot of sense. Then he backtracked and wanted to make sure I got a romantic proposal that I would remember and be able to tell our children. Since we planned on paying 100% ourselves, we felt comfortable beginning the planning process before announcing anything to our families. We chose a date we knew would work for everyone and got the venue we loved!

    Welcome, I'm a May 4th bride also! I didn't realize it was Star Wars day until we were shopping for bridesmaid dresses and our consultant pointed it out lol.

    And I just finished my MBA last year! It's a lot of work, but it feels awesome ones you have it.
