WP attire dilemma

At you know, my FSIL is driving me crazy.  I haven't had any contact with her since that whole blow up over the weekend.

She is my FI's "best woman" and will be the only person standing next to him.  I'm having a man of honor and that's the whole WP.  We really wanted people who had always been in our lives next to us.  This is FI's only sibling.  I don't have any siblings, but my friend and I have been friends since we were 3 and I can't remember a major event in my life without him there.  But I digress...

FSIL wants to try and get pregnant after her wedding in November.  That could put her potentially at 6 months pregnant for my wedding.  On the other hand, you never know how nature could work- she might not be pregnant or just a month or so...  She and I picked out two dresses- one that might work if she's not pregnant and one that would work if she was pregnant.
Both are in gray.

I've already volunteered to pay for the dress.  Which means that I have to buy it for her and send it to her, since she lives 4 hours away from me.  She's going to need time to get it altered- she's very short and will at least need to get it shortened.  I really love these dresses and I'm just hoping they won't be discontinued by the time we need to get them.

I'm thinking of just having my FI deal with this.  Honestly, I'm so over her.  I really don't want to go through all this hassle for her dress.  It's something that will need to be done very last minute.  Do we think it's a good idea if I just back off of all of it?

I say let FI handle her dress. She is HIS best woman. :)  Mel I really feel for you with all the craziness that FSIL brings

  • Any reason why the "pregnant dress" couldn't work even if she's not pregnant? I do love the non-pregnant dress, but the other one would work either way, I would think...?

  • I agree with DivaJenD, I think the pregnant dress can work either way. Its Beautfiul

  • She's extremely large chested and the pregnant dress makes her look pregnant... that doesn't matter if she's is pregnant, but she doesn't feel comfortable in it if she's not.  I thought of that idea too though.

  • Yep, let FI deal with it. I'm thinking that any interaction you have with her right now, especially if it's about your wedding and not hers, will just be met with a lot of hostility. Do you have a Nordstrom nearby? Their customer service is really unbelievable, IMO. I would go into the store and show them the dresses. You don't have to explain the whole FSIL possible pregnancy situation, but say you love the dresses and really want to have one of them for the WP. Then ask if they can please call you if they get notice that the dresses will be discontinued. They might also be able to tell you that in store, based on how long they have been out and what line/season they are, etc.

On a side note, have you had a chance to look at the dresses in person yet? I've found that the colors on Nordstrom's website are not always true to reality. I'm not sure if you want a very specific shade of gray or if any variation of it is fine, but I would check them out in person, if you can.

I'd let your FI deal with it.

Hearing your stories makes me happy that my FSIL is not part of the wedding, or part of our lives.

<div>Yep. I heart Nordstrom. FI got a watch from there for Christmas last year and then it stopped working. Timex apparently doesn't make parts for their watches (that makes sense, right?), you have to send the watch in and you get sent a new one. And we totally didn't have a receipt 7 months later. Nordstroms just gave him a new one and sent the old one back themselves. </div>

Also makes me a lot more appreciative of my FSIL.
