Time off around wedding

How much time off of work is anyone thinking about taking surrounding your weddings? Right now I'm planning on taking off half a day Thursday and the entire day Friday (for Saturday, May 25 wedding). Then we will get back from our honeymoon the following Sunday, and I plan on taking Monday off. It helps that we have Memorial Day in there because that's one less vacation day I will have to use. I feel guilty taking any more time off than this but I'm also nervous I'll feel rushed.

Re: Time off around wedding

  • I already put my time in total 11 days ... The Friday before and the whole week after even though were not leaving until Wednesday or Thursday for the honeymoon who wants to go back to work for 3 days lol and the following week will be Memorial so I'll be off and then Sunday we come home and I'm off Monday for the jet lag. I wish I could do more but I want to save some days for later in the year!
  • I'm taking Thursday and Friday before the wedding (which is on Saturday) and then a full 2 weeks after.

  • I have a half day Thursday, Friday, Monday off and a half day that Tuesday. I wish I could have more time but it's really not possible. FI is taking Thrusday-Monday off from work. So I can give him a honey-do- list on Thursday Wink

  • I'm not really sure. I'll more than likely take the Friday off, but have a half day anyways, and the Monday. I don't see a point in taking more time than that especially since I'm not taking a honeymoon right away.

  • I am taking Friday and Saturday before the wedding ( Sunday May 26). After the wedding I am planning on taking a week off after the wedding maybe longer just depends on how long FI can take off and what my scheduled off days will be next year. Looking at taking about 12 days or so....

  • I think I put it from Wed or Thurs off for my Sunday wedding. And we're doing a longer honeymoon/grad trip before FI starts residency - so in total, I think I took a month off.

  • I am taking Wednesday and Thursday off before the wedding (Friday) and then I think that week after for the honeymoon.

  • I'm taking Friday, but I'm trying to swing Thursday.  If I do Thursday, then when we get back from our honeymoon just less than 2 weeks after the wedding, we'll get back on a Thursday and I'll go back to work on Friday.  If I don't take the Thursday before the wedding off, I can just stay home the Friday we get back... we'll see.

  • As of right now I'm actually leaving my current job the Thursday or Wednesday before the wedding (this has been known since I started there), because of moving right after the wedding.  My mom is pushing for me to to take the whole week off, but that's not going to happen.  I need the money.  Then after the honeymoon we'll drive wherever we're moving to (hopefully to an apartment we'll already have).

A lot of this is still guesswork and not set in stone, due to waiting on FI to hear back from grad schools.

I'm not going to lie, I'm getting tired of people asking what we're doing after the wedding and having to say that we don't know yet.  It makes me nervous.

  • I already have Fridays off, so I will just be taking the full week after, then that following Monday is Memorial Day and we plan to relax before heading back to work (I'm hoping to start a new job that week too... ideally but we will see).

  • Since our wedding is a Thursday, I'm entertaining the idea of taking the whole week off. But I'm not quite sure. I'm a teacher and taking days off usually creates more work for me, so the less...the better.
We'll have Friday plus a three day weekend because of Memorial Day to rest up and go back. We're not going on our honeymoon till July, to minimize my time away from work.

  • I'm looking at about 2 1/2 weeks for wedding and honeymoon.  Our fiscal year begins June 1, so my vacation time will reset then.  Our wedding is on Sun, May 26.  I'm planning on being off the Wed before until 2 Fridays after.  I do have the option of working remotely, so I may check in once or twice the couple of days before the wedding, and we'll probably have 2-3 days between the wedding and honeymoon.
  • I'm most likely taking off Thursday and Friday before the wedding and then the honeymoon is Mon-Mon after the wedding. I'm hoping I can maybe get the Tues after or the Wed before off, but I'm hoping to graduate around then, so it's all up in the air.

  • I'm taking a half day Thursday and a full day Friday. The wedding is Saturday. We don't leave for our honeymoon until 2 weeks after - so I will go to work on Monday. Then I will take 2 weeks off for our honeymoon.
  • I've been thinking about this too because with my second job I'm not full time so I don't have PTO I could use, therefore I'd lose almost a week's worth of pay. For sure I'll be taking off thursday, friday, saturday (the 25th being the big day!), sunday and monday. Also, FI and I haven't finalized where we're going for a mini moon- so that'll influence it too.

  • Fi and I have decided to take off the Thursday & Friday before the wedding, and then we leave the following Monday for our honeymoon, which is 10 days. Since we get back on a Wednesday night, we've opted to just take Thursday & Friday off following to get our regular lives' back in order.

All-in-all, it works out to 19 days out of commission. That is the longest I will ever have taken off from work!

  • I'm taking off the full week of our wedding and the week after for the honeymoon.
  • I work in retail so things are kind of strange. Since I'm full time I have to work at least 37 hours a week or use vacation time to keep my status. My wedding's on a Sunday so I'm planning to work 10 hour shifts Mon-Thur so that I can be off Fri-Sun without taking vacation time. We'll go on our HM Monday-Monday so I'll use 40 hours of vacation time for that. I'm also crossing my fingers they'll let me work 10 hour shifts again the week I get back (Thur-Sun) so I can also have Tuesday and Wednesday off to wrap stuff up without using any extra time.

I get another 40 hours of vacation but we usually go to the beach in July so I'd like to only use one week of it total for the wedding.

  • I am taking the week before the wedding off as well as the week after for the honeymoon.  We are coming back the following Saturday and going to work on Monday.  We are in news so can't have the holiday (Memorial Day) week off.  I also took a week off about a month before the wedding so I could sleep in, work on any DIY insanity still going on and so we could take a day trip up to the mountains to relax.  Admittedly, we have a pretty generous vacation set up where I work so I still have enough left over for the holidays and a summer break.  I deinfately wanted more time off right before the weddign to avoid stress and to  take care of all the little things that I am sure are likely to pop up!
