Analyzing the budget (again)

So FI was asking how we were coming along with our budget and the things we've purchased already. I entered them all into a spreadsheet Im starting to keep and the good news is that in the big budget areas (venue, attire) we are spot on with the budget. The bad news is that in my "other" category and "reception decor" category, Im either wiped out or over budget and still have more to do. I have to buy candy for my candy buffet, still have to do the favors, placecards, etc. I'm going to have to start getting creative on my upcoming purchases.

That stinks.  I feel like you always need to underestimate your original budget and have a cushion of money just in case.

Is there another area you can cut from? Or maybe you can prioritize and cut some of the "extras"? Budgets suck! Lol

Unfortunately because our budget is so tight already, there really are no other areas from me to really cut from. But I will definitely have to try. Im not too overly concerned because I have my "allowance" spending that can cover most of the things Im missing. I'm just a little nervous that I'm this "over" already and I still have 7 months to go.

Yeah, all the little stuff can add up quickly. I had to explain this to my FI when he wanted to go for a reception venue that was about 85% of our budget. He was like "well that's all we need, right?" If only!

I look through the budget weekly as if I will miraculously find extra money lol. I truly love all the vendors but oh man this is not at all what I thought I'd be spending. I will say our venue is takes up a lot of the budget but they provide food, alcohol, ceremony an reception there as well as we get the penthouse suite for the date and night. In terms of what they provide it helps lol still way lot more than I thought. If we hadn't booked when we did though we wouldn't be able to afford it now that im proud of lol
