Venue Issue!

Has everyone already booked their venue? I figured with 13 months left until we say I Do, there was at least another month to browse and decide.

I emailed my favorite venue to inquire about pricing/dates, and yes, you've guessed it! Their response: my date (May 11, 2013) was already booked  bummer. We're either changing the date or the venue. Any suggestions? (The date has to be after April 27th, but not too late because of the heat of summer!)

May is a really popular time to get married, so I would either decide to change your date or look for a new venue NOW. I booked our venue in July of last year because I didn't want it to be booked. That's partially the reason I've booked as much as I have so far, because I didn't want to get to 1 year out and find out everything was booked. Things book up fast! Good luck!

Yep I know how you feel... If this venue is your dream venue I say change you date to another weekend in May. If May 11 is a special day for you then I would also suggest start looking for another venue now... GL

We picked May 11th also but so far havent booked our venue. Supposedly we are still penciled in as of this past week. I agree with what the ladies said, if you can pick another date and the venue fits and you want this venue then do that. If May 11th is special then look for something that will fit your dreams and your date

Our venue has been booked since November 2011!!!!!

we booked ours in Jan ... we went shopping in Dec ... I thought we had plenty of time ... but depends onthe venue ... ours only does one wedding a day and when we made our decision I contacted our person right away to set up an appt.

if you know your vendors you want and you have the funds I would definitely book them. Things go fast!

May and June are VERY popular for weddings, so I'd say the sooner you do it the better. I've had my venue booked since January. Also, my original date was going to be this June- but because of money we had to postpone and thankfully almost all of my vendors were able to accomodate the new date. 

I agree that it's not a bad idea to get your vendors booked now if you can. It is true that you still have time, but if there are particular ones you really want and you know are popular in your area, get them booked now.

Pretty much all of us here are ahead of the game for the most part, and I think that'll really serve us well in the end :-)

I agree with PP and think that you should either change your day to another weekend in May or maybe the first week of June if your favorite venue is still booked up or pick another venue ASAP. We booked our venue in August of last year because we wanted to have the first pick of our date and not have to worry about it being booked up already.

I was surprised how many were booked when I went to a Bridal Show in January for days in 2013. If the date doesn't mean anything to you then just change to when the venue is open. That's what we did cause no date really stuck out to us. Remember it will all work out. We booked ours late February.

Thanks for all of your input and opinions everyone! I've began looking for other venues around my area... Who knows? I may find one I love just as much without the huge price tag?! ha! Happy Planning!!
