Anyone else feel this way?

Does anyone else have those days when you feel like you shouldn't have a wedding and save the money instead?  I've been having one of those weeks Undecided

Re: Anyone else feel this way?

  • In the beginning, I said I'd much rather elope and use the money as a down payment on the house ... but FI was insistant that we have a wedding for a few reasons:

    1. He thinks I'll regret it later on if we don't
    2. By the time we get married we'll have been together for over 10 yrs
    3. Both our families have already said we are having wedding no matter what lol
    4. He wants it lmao (biggest party he'll ever throw!)

Since we started actually planning and booking vendors he's been so fully involved (as much as can be as we are long distance) and I'm kind of enjoying it, hearing the excitement in his voice and seeing all the different ideas and my visions, I feel like its coming together. We have a strict budget and already went over my ideal budget but as long as we don't go over on the rest of the stuff we're fine, we just won't have any money leftover PERIOD lmao!!!

I'm looking forward to our wedding and all the events before wedding shower & bachelorette party!!! I feel like the time is going by quick!!!

  • [QUOTE]I I hope you guys can come to a compromise :-)

Stephanie we have compromised. I dont want to deny him of having a big wedding. It warms my heart how happy it makes him. The money aspect will always be hard to swallow. We actually talked about hopping a plane and flying our parents, siblings, best friends and the kids to a beach and just having a small wedding and a big casual bbq later. He considered it and I didnt see the excitement like I do in him with the big wedding. Id rather see that happy excited emotional man. :)

  • I'm actually enjoying it. But you do have to know that it took me a few years to agree to finally get married. We have been engaged for 5 years now. We have a date planned for August 2008, started planning and were about to make our first deposits, but I decided to go to college and we couldn't afford both. It just didn't feel right to get married then because I felt like we won't where I needed to be emotionally to get married.

We've gone to a few weddings since then and everyone we went to FI kept saying how he wished it was us but I kept telling him I'd rather buy a house (so romantic right?). Anyways, last October we went to a wedding, and on our way to the reception FI kept talking about it, I then realized how important it was to him so I agreed and I'm so happy that I did now because I can't wait to be married, even though everyone calls us an old married couple already lol

  • I have felt like that since the beginning. I have a lot of student loans so everytime I spend money on the wedding I feel like it could be going somewhere else and that is very hard for me. FI wants to use money from his savings but that's not what he saved that money for.
