1/2 up, 1/2 down question

So my wedding is only 5 weeks away and I have not exactly nailed down my hairstyle. I have decided that I'm going to have a 1/2 up, 1/2 down 'do, probably with some soft curls. I'm not sure exatly how I should secure the top half. Do I use a clear elastic and wrap some hair around it? Should I just use bobby pins? I have a headpiece that sits right in front of my veil, so I think it'd be weird to use a barrett (plus, my hair can never hold them). My sister is doing my hair, but lives across the country, so I won't really be able to figure out my hair until about 4 days before the big day. Any ideas?

I would tease the back slightly to give it some height behind your hairpiece. This way it wont looks flat in photos.

If barrettes never hold, go for the pins. Maybe even find some longer ones that you can kind of weave in and our of your hair to hold it more securely.

I have very fine hair so barrettes normally don't hold in my hair either. You can spray your hair, though, where you'll place the barrette and that will help it stay a bit better.
