natural curls

Right now my hair is shoulder lenght, I am letting it grow for the wedding which is in 2 years. But I don't know what to do with it? my hair is naturally curly and frizzy and it gets flat on top. What is good to use to make it look nice? what style should I do?

I have the same hair and went with a half up and half down style with a headband and the veil attached at the ends of the headband so the half up hair covered the top of the veil.

As for your hair in general, the best thing you can do for it is make it look healthy which is not easy to do  with hair like ours.  Here is the combination that I figured out after many years of trying to make this hair look great.  Tressame Shampoo and Conditioner (the new touchable softness line workd wonders), Aveda Be Curly style prep and the Aveda Be Curly in the grey bottle.  If you need hairspray, Aveda's witchhazel hairspray. 

To keep your hair from getting flat on top, have your stylist cut some layers into it.  My hair is at bra strap length right now so I have long layers that keep the style from being flat but also keep it from poofing out in a triangle shape.

Thanks. I've tried the layers and no matter what its still flat on top! Thanks for the advice tho, I will look for those products!!

I have naturally curly hair and I'm a hairstylist.  I use Aveda products at my salon AND for myself.  The entire be curly line is amazing for you hair.  Curly hair tends to be dry so the be curly shampoo/conditioner is formulated to add moisture to your hair without weighing it down.  Another idea is to do deep conditioning masques on your hair, whether at home or done professionally.  I know Aveda seems expensive, but it is very concentrated and you need less product than store brands.  If you can't afford aveda as the PP said, treseme isn't a bad option.  As far as styling products like the PP said, the be curly line is the best. Use the be curly style prep on towel dried hair and comb it through.  The best mixture is a dime size amount of confixor with a small dollop of the be curly curl enhancer, mix it together in your hand and put it in your hair.   As far as hairspray goes, the Aveda Air control works really well because it is a "dry" or "matte" hairspray and therefore is a finer mist of spray and sprays on the hair dry versus wet.  The witch hazel is a great light hold hair spray but if you're not careful it can tend to get sticky if you spray it when its too close to your head.

As for your haircuts, seems counter productive if you're trying to grow your hair out but, get your hair cut at least every 8 weeks, even if its just a 1/4".  As for layers, the WAY the layers are cut makes a difference.  A stylist can't cut layers in curly hair the way they would straight or even wavy hair.

My stylist cut them vertical.
