Hair and Bridesmaids/Traveling Stylist or Salon?

Hi Everyone,

Is it typical that the bride gets her hair done with her bridesmaids?  I don't know if I could wrangle them all into doing this, but I guess that I am asking if I am responsible as the bride for organizing this.  Do the bridesmaids pay for their own hair styles?

Also, I live one hour from the place that I am getting married, but I am not sure about the salons in the area where I am getting married.  The salons in my area are great, but this would mean that I would have to travel to location of the wedding to pick up my bridesmaids who are coming from out of town and then drive back.  Would a traveling stylist be better? Would a traveling stylist be more expensive?

People will tell you that its up to the BM's wether they want there hair done or not. I personally want all my girls to have there hair done. I work at a salon and I have seen girls pay for there own, or I have also seen the bride pay for them all. Its what you can afford or what they can. On my day, I plan on paying for half of there hair and makeup. Our salon usually travels places, yours being an hour away could become a little more expensive. We usually tag on 10-20 extra for traveling on top of what the updo would cost, but it could be more than that with traveling a longer distace.

If you organize this or make it seem like all bridesmaids should get their hair done together, I think that implies that you're covering the cost. It sounds like it might make sense for you to check out the salons at the wedding location for a hair trial first, then maybe you can figure out whether that's a good option. Maybe the local boards could offer advice about salons and traveling stylists?

I've been in a few weddings where everyone gets their hair done together and it was never implied that the bride should cover the cost. Usually the bride tells them to make an appointment at a certain place if they want but its not required.
