Where to get ready?

I am getting married on a Sunday and the only way I could get me and my bridesmaids hair and makeup services was to hire an individual to come to a location.

I'm staying with one of my bridesmaids the night before the wedding and her home is NOT ideal for doing hair and makeup for 7 women due to space and pets.

I thought I could use someone's hotel room, but all of my bridesmaids (that will be in town by Saturday) are staying with people they know.

So, where can me and my bridesmaids get ready? I really don't want to pay for an extra night in the hotel.... Any ideas?

Re: Where to get ready?

  • How close are you to the people your BM's are staying with?

Do you have anyone that you know in town that would let you do hair/makeup there?

Is there a room at the ceremony site?

Otherwise, I can't think of anything UNLESS the salon that your stylist works for will let her do hair there. I know at my salon, I let trusted (they're all trusted but you know what i mean) employees bring people in after hours for situations like that. I just make the employees sign something saying that they are responsible if any one of their guests steals something/damages etc.

  • Well, two of the bridesmaids are staying with me at the same house with the first bridesmaid. The other is staying with a friend that I haven't ever met.

The only house I know I could use is my fiancee's parents' house, but she and her bridesmaids are using that space.

The ceremony site does have a small conference room, but 1) I have never seen it, so I'm not sure that it's big enough and 2) We can't have it until 4 pm and the ceremony starts at 6:30 pm.

The stylist made it clear that she could use the salon on Mon - Sat, but not on Sunday. Plus, it's pretty far away from the venue. But I guess I could ask and act like I didn't hear her the first time to make sure...
  • The salon probably isn't open on Sunday and it doesnt sound like its an option. I wouldn't ask her again, since she already mentioned it.

Two and a half hours before the ceremony is enough time to get YOUR hair done but its pushing it just because you don't want to be rushed and stress yourself out unnecessarily.  Are you already getting the room to actually get dressed or will be you getting dressed wherever you are getting your done, keep that in mind if you end up using your friends place with the pets (pet hair, possibly one jumping on you...)

I would ask your FI's parents for suggestions on places.  Maybe they will just suggest that you do it there, then you won't have to ask them if you can.  If they don't offer then it might be a better safe than sorry thing and eat the cost of getting a hotel room.  Just keep in mind that unless you book a suite, a hotel room might not be the ideal place for 7 women to get their hair and makeup done either. Unless you stagger the times they are coming and going.
Also, you need to make sure you're in the middle of this hair doing, you dont want ot be first because you don't want your do to fall out, but you dont want to be last either in case there are hiccups, you need plenty of time to get your hair done...if there are hiccups , someone who is getting their hair done might need to opt for a less involved updo for time sake, but it shouldnt be you.

  • I'm also getting married on a Sunday, and doing hair at the salon at which my hair dresser works.  I'm incredibly lucky because she is coming in at  - - - wait for it - - - 6am to do my hair.  (I have pictures before the ceremony and am seeing my groom for the first time that day shortly after 8.)

I hope that you are able to find a place that works for you.

    Good luck
  • Very nice!!! Accomodating stylist...I've done that before, thankfully I've only been asked once.
