We have our "final" count...

A whopping 91 people will be attending our wedding, even though we invited 201.  It's a bit disappointing, especially since most of the people who can't come are my family members.  NO ONE on my mom's side is coming (besides my mom of course).  However, I'm trying to look at the bright side...our room won't be cramped (and neither will the dance floor!), our catering bill will end up being about $1500 TOTAL, we have less alcohol to buy, and more time with each of our guests instead of running around the whole night.  Sounds good to me! :)

  • That is an excellent way to look at it!! Spend your time with the people who are around you on your day!

  • Same thing happened to me!! BUT the important thing besides the upside of saving the money is that the people who ARE there are there to support you and love you! Nothing will matter except you and your sweetie that day!!

  • I am in a somewhat similar situation, we invited 169 and only 109 people are attending, which seems like so many people who can't come! But I completely agree with the way you are looking at it :)

All of my family did, as well as the high school and college friends I invited.  I think 36 out of the 91 people are my "side", which isn't too terrible.  I didn't think ANY of my family was coming, but I found out that my Nonna (grandmother), my aunt, her daughter, and 3 of my cousins are coming.  I also have two friends from HS and one from college.  A bunch of my grad school friends (who are local) are coming, and I consider a lot of Jason's friends my friends now, too.  I'm actually really relieved, the more I think about it.  Back in the very beginning of planning we said we wanted a smaller wedding anyway...we wanted to invite 100, but the list grew to twice that.  So I suppose things worked themselves out, hahaha
  • Less people is better, less money to spend and more room for room flow at the reception. But it is disappointing when people say no that you want there.

It looks like this worked out well then! I agree with pps, the smaller the better. I'm hoping some of these lingering ppl on my list say no lol
