Is this unintentionally rude?

There are 16 people in our wedding party (8 BMs/8 GMs) and most have SO's.  I really don't want to split up the WP from their SOs for dinner.  I had envisioned doing a captain's (king's) table, but my venue does not have enough rectangle tables to accommodate the entire WP plus dates.  I don't want to do a sweetheart table.  One idea FI suggested was we sit at a table with MOH (not bringing a date), best man and his wife, and our siblings.  All of our siblings and their husbands/wives are in the WP.  The remaining WP would be seated at other tables with their SO's.  Is it rude/offensive to the rest of the wedding party if we are sitting with half of the WP, but not all?  Or do you think they would be happy because they get to sit with their significant other?

If it were me, I wouldn't be offended at all sitting at a second table like that- It sounds like a good plan to me

Nope, not at all! We are having our MOH and BM sit with us (both single). Our siblings in the WP will be sitting with our families, and the rest of the WP, our friends, will all be sitting together. Well that is if I decide to even have a seating chart...

I think that plan sounds perfect. Especially since you have a huge wedding party it's natural to have to split it, and since you're splitting it as "family" and "not family" it's a natural divide so no one should have hurt feelings

If I were your BM (family or not) I would appreciate that seating arrangement!

Agree with PPs, I would much rather sit with my FI than without him at a head table!

yes and no, i think its fine to put them at other tables (not the head table), but I would try and keep them all close to the front and at "wedding party tables" with thier significant others. So maybe do 2 tables of wedding party people with thier significant others, for those who are not your bestman/maid of honor. If i was in somenes wedding but sitting way off somewhere behind all the family with just my FI and not know a whole lot of other people there, I wouldnt be impressed. The least you could do would be sit me (and my FI) with other memebers of the wedding party since I would have at least met them at the pre-wedding events.

Good points!  Our WP will definitely be at "VIP" tables near us.  They are also all friends of ours from college, so they will know about 40-50 people at the wedding.
