Just met with my seamstress!

Exciting news! Just met with my seamstress... she is hemming my dress, taking it in and creating a bustle... cost were $285...is that normal? or high? How much did you pay for your alteration? I think, my bustle is going to be difficult...since it's a long ruffled train and she spent a long time bustling it during my appointment... I'm supposed to be back on April 16th for the fitting...i miss my dress already!! :(

  • Mine is going to be like $177 price including tax. I thought it was a good price.
  • That's more than I paid to have my dress bustled but mine was very simple. It was just adding ties to the inside of the dress.
Also, if your dress has a lot of beadwork, that can make taking it in expensive.

  • I paid about $160, but I am taking it back to get adjusted.  I tried on my gown again on Sunday and noticed that it's a little too loose in the tummy/hips area, making me appear larger than I actually am! lol
  • I paid $250 and that was for the bustle and to get it hemmed. Mine has a weird bottom to it though so it took a lot of work for her to hem it and get the bustle done. I was a little surprised by that price but she told me to expect between $150-350 so I guess $250 isn't bad.

  • It all depends on how much you are having altered... if it's a lot then I would expect it to be more money, and less if you are doing a minor fix.
