Why can't my family just get along?
I come from a huge Irish family and growing up we were ALWAYS together. Every holiday was an excuse to get everyone together and there were a TON of us. I'm closer to my cousins and second cousins than a lot of people I know. It always seemed like my family was a FAMILY and would do anything for each other. Now it's all falling apart.
My mom's cousin is very close to us (my immediate family), and her daughter is one of my bridesmaids.
Unfortunately there has been some family drama and a few of my aunt's and my grandmother no longer speak to my mom's cousin and her family. Because of this there has been some drama surrounding my wedding. I am freaking Switzerland as far as I'm concerned but when my Grandmother asked my aunt if she was coming to the wedding she yelled and made a scene in the middle of the restaurant they were eating lunch at of, "HELL NO I"M NOT GOING TO THE WEDDING!"
Well, I was talking to my cousin (angry aunt's daughter) to remind her to send in her RSVP, and to please remind my aunt that even if she's not coming I still need the RSVP. And my cousin launches into this drama that she was told not to come and blah blah blah and my mom's cousin and her family are horrible people and all of this.
Yes, my aunt was ADVISED by my mother not to come to the wedding because this was MY day and was to be free of family drama and if she couldn't keep it to herself or be civil then she just shouldn't attend.
I HATE how this family has fallen apart, and how everything anyone says gets twisted into something totally different.
