My FSIL went to HS with this girl, who is now a photographer. She is just starting her career. She currently has no weddings under her belt, but by the time she does my wedding( if i choose her) she will have about 5. I looked at her pcitures from senior pics/engagement pics/ and pregnancy pics, and they all look really good. She is only $650, uses professional cameras, and i think she has a good artistic eye. My 2nd photographer is my best friend who by the time of my wedding, she will have graduated with a photography degree. I am using my best friend for the candid shots, so she can build her portfolio..but anyways.. this girl that would be my main photographer.idk if i wanna choose her..she is really cheap which is GREAT.. here is a link to some of her pics. what do you think??

I know she has little experience but i think she could do a good job. and her editting frm the other photos look well done.

She seems very talented, and I think that is a HUGE part of finding a good photographer.  There are plenty of photographers who are considered "professionals" because they've done a ton of weddings, but they still produce mediocre work.  In other words, there's no guarantee that spending a ton of $ will give you pictures equal in quality to what she can do for you.  I say if you get along well with her, and you like her work, go for it!  If you're really hesitant, maybe do your e-session with her and see how it goes.  Good luck!

The thing is..is that Dan and I already have our e-session photos done..we dont need another one... idk..maybe we can get more pics for save the dates or just for fun pics to try her out..idk. we have time..but i really like her price! lol

Yeah, I totally agree, the price is amazing!  I think you should go with your gut; if you like her and get a good vibe from her work, go for it!

I would double check what kind of degree your and or style they have. A photojournalism degree is very different from a studio photography degree is very different from a video degree is very different from an artistic photography degree.

Then decide what kind of "look" you want and who fits that the best. You have a ton of time to decide and can check back in with them to see updates of their work between now and then.

Like PP have said, go with your gut!! Stephen and I went to school with our photographer and she has only done 1 wedding but we trust her completely and she has given us a great deal. Her photos are amazing and by the time we are getting married, she will have a degree as well. We have quite a few friends that are starting their businesses and so we have chosen to use each of them to give them experience. If it works, it works .

That is a great price and her work is pretty darn good.  I say give it a go

i went to art school and more than 1/2 of my studies were in photograhy so here are my 2 cents. She is an amatuer and it shows in her pictures. She has a lot of blown spots from not exposing images right and her skin tones are all over the place so she probably didn't edit them at all or not evenly so they are somewhat alike. her posing also comes across like she is just starting out, but that's something that develops overtime as you learn and develop. 

the most important thing to think about is her business skills. she hasn't done any weddings so how do you know she won't go into her first wedding, HATE it and decide she only wants to do family stuff? also, it takes A LOT of work to go into a wedding and work 8 plus hours. you have to be fast thinking and quick on your feet and you have to be able to adapt. you have to be able to lead a group, big or small and get people to give you the attention you need so you can get the shots you want. they have to know how to shoot in pitch dark rooms if your wedding gets rained out, etc. these are a lot of things a person who hasn't even done a wedding needs to know about. 

so thats just my 2 cents. it's def. far beyond being able to take a good picture. sometimes (and not always) cost is reflective of what you get.

Oh my this is so weird. I am trying to decide the same thing right now! I was coming to post almost the same thing! It's a hard decision... FI can't bare the thought of spending 2000 + on photos alone. We are on a tight budget and the girl I went to high school with and only having to spend 550 on is very appealing. I say if you can trust her go for it. Is it a budget thing? When is she doing her first wedding? Maybe you could wait to decide after her first and maybe her second to get an idea of her work from a wedding not just family work then decide if you need to find a more professional photographer. But like PP said, just because you spend a lot on photos, doesn't mean they are going to be great. If the wedding is soon and you'd have time to find another one if you didn't like her work, I'd do that. GL, keep us updated!

Her first wedding will be in October...i really dont wanna wait that long.. Tough decision!!

I would have her do another e-session, this way you can see the pics she takes, maybe take them in the same locations at the same time you would have your wedding pics done, that way you will get an idea of what they will look like.

Photography is so expensive, but i think it is the most important thing because once the wedding is over all you have left of the big day is your pics, well besides all the memories.
