My aunt is 18 years older than my dad and her children (my cousins) are very close in age, therefore we are not close. Anyways this aunt's son and his wife have been invited to our family events such as graduation parties, milestone birthday parties, anniversary parties and they never come. Because we don't want to upset my aunt we just continue to invite them to events. They have two sons around my age, they have been invited as well and have either came and ignored the party host, or not came at all. Eventually we just stopped inviting the sons.
My aunt and his wife were invited to my sister's wedding 4 years ago, and my cousin's wife asked my sister if her son and his GF could go in their place (the two sons were not invited). Pretty rude right? My sister said no, the invite is for you and cousin. They declined.
We of course invited them to our wedding assuming they would not come. But my aunt was talking to my mom and said that she talked to cousin about the wedding and he never saw the invitation! Apparently his wife had thrown it out and did not tell him about it! He told my aunt that he would be coming as he took the day off work. However, his wife will not be coming. Also it appears they may be splitting up... I wonder if she threw away all of our previous invitations to family events?
