South Hills girls, I need help.

Our ceremoy and reception are less than a mile apart near South Hills Village. Our ceremony is at 3:00, cocktail hour is at 5:00, we're being introduced a little after 6:00.

I need ideas for pictures. I don't really want to go to South Park, but we will if it comes to that. I thought about Boyce-Mayview in USC, but the parts I most want to take pictures at (actual buildings of Mayview), we can't really get to.

It has to be close. That's my only requirement.

Ideas?

Re: South Hills girls, I need help.

  • I wasn't thrilled about having South Park as our only option, but I think the pictures turned out much better than expected.  Here are a few:

  • I know this sounds sort of weird/morbid, but a lot of people use Jefferson Memorial Park. It's about 15 minutes from South Hills Village and really not far from South Park either.  Here are some pics Randi Voss took at the same location.

  • When I was looking itno ceremony sites we looked at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe.  I asked if there were places near by for pictures and she said there are train tracks that run near the facility, also there is a waterfall at the entrance to the plaza and a lot of people use the buildings as back drops.  We decided to go with Kennywood, so I never went to look at the grounds, but it might be worth a shot.

My mind keeps wandering back to South Park... and a lot of people do Jefferson Memorial (DH refused to do ours at JM).  We did ours at the Arboretum on West Bruceton in Jefferson Hills.  I wanted pictures in the field... then it rained... and that got ruined. :)

I googled South Hills Village on Google Maps and there are surprisingly about 4 or 5 small parks that I had no clue existed (Gilfillan Park?!?!  The captioning says "Have you ever imagined what USC was like before it was first established?"  No... but NOW I do!).  Take a look at Google Maps and visit a couple of those places.  A few might just be jungle gyms, but there are more right around there than I thought!!

Robb Hollow Park off of Painter's Run looks huge.  I want to go visit some of these myself to see what kind of parks these even are!
