booked RD Question

Today i booked our Rehearsal Dinner location. Its not far from the aquarium we are having our wedding reception at and it happens to be one place that my FI and I really love. Its a quiet place off the water, very small, family owned but the food is amazing. Its like a hidden secret.

My question...should we do a set menu? And what is appropriate to spend on a RD? I am looking at packages that include an app., choice of salad, choice of 4 different meals, and desert.
Cost is 22 dollars per person..which i think is incredibly good. A lot of places want 35 pp out here.

I would do a set menu so you know how much you'll spend. Just letting everyone order off the menu could get you in trouble. As far as costs, I don't think there is an appropriate amount. I've been to RD ranging from a backyard BBQ to a really, really fancy dinner that was as nice as the wedding. But, FWIW, $22 pp sounds like an amazing deal to me!!
  • i would also do a set menu.  FMIL is planning our RD and she's just having a buffet for everyone.  it's just so much easier that way.
  • We are doing a set menu too, but the set menu allows the guests choices.  Ours will be $19.50/pp.

  • I think a choice of 4 meals is perfectly fine, and it gives you a better idea of what the cost is going to be.

  • The chef did a prefix menu for us that includes 3 options for appetizers, 3 for main dish, and 3 for dessert all for 34.99 which is an amazing deal for our area. Spend what you can afford. I think as long as you have more than one option the menu should be fine.
