Sorry this is so long but I am just so over this crap. I just can't believe how weddings cause people to act! Last night FI was talking to one of his good friends whom is traveling up to our wedding about an 8 hr trip. They decided to come up an extra day but we only had rooms blocked for Friday and Saturday, so Thursday night wasn't discounted. He was complaining to FI about how expensive the hotel we picked is. Ok... but it's the closest to the venue and we were able to get it discounted a lot for our guests on Friday and Saturday. They decided on their own to go the extra day and we even offered for them to stay with family members if they wanted to they declined. All this wouldn't make me so mad except this couple goes out on the regular and drops 500 on a night out on just the two of them! You're going to complain about a 350 hotel for all 3 nights when you drop more than that on a night out at least 3 times a month?! Really?!? People are crazy. And this is on top of other friends backing out due to money when they're buying a brand new car, new house, goes on trips to the beach and go shopping all the freaking time! I just can't believe how selfish people are. If you don't want to come then don't, don't make excuses that I know aren't true! Wedding really show peoples true colors....

We had a few people complain about the hotel where the wedding and block is. I know, it's not cheap. But, there are other hotels in the area. My brother, instead of using a block, decided to use AAA for a room rate, and it was actually the same as the block. Why he did it that way, I do not know. Your friend, if he had sense to, could have done this. I know we can't say/dictate how people spend their money, but it does boggle the mind when they say they can't come because they can't afford it when you know how they spend their money. Maybe they needed that new car, or buying a new house just came at that time, etc. We can't judge people for spending their money. But I get what you're saying. It's a bummer, but we move on and let it be.

I agree with that soo much!! We have had people back out after I have made my final numbers for the most ridiculous reasons, "I all of a sudden have to work and can't get out of it", "school has been really stressful lately" ugh!! I get so mad and sad. You really find out who your true friends are! Can't wait until it's their wedding.. FI and I will definitely not be there because of some lame excuse too! !

Hotels can be expensive... I think it's rude of them to complain to you about it...although it was really nice of you to offer them to stay with relatives of yours, you definitely didn't have to.
