Wedding Photographers - Have you experienced?

So we are currently searching and interviewing for photographers for our wedding. We have a meeting set up for one next week. Anyways, I am finding that many photographers are already booked. Did anyone else experience this? I am not naive-I understand why but at the same time, I am suprised that its just photographers are not other vendors.

Photography was the first vendor I booked after having the venue set.  I think it's just because they can be very expensive and so booking earlier sometimes ensures a lower price.  Also, many people value photography and book that vendor shortly after the venue.

I booked mine 18 months out, just for reference.  Do you need help finding someone?

I have a meeting with one photography..hes a little out of our price range. i believe I will just end up going with him because he was the one interested in setting up a meeting. Who do you suggest?

If you tell us your price range, girls can recommend their photographers!  I'm using Randi Voss and I think she's fantastic but she's around 3K,.  There are some great photographers in the 1500-2K range as well.

I'm currently looking at photogs for my August 11, 2012 wedding and have only encountered one so far that is booked on my date.  Then again, I'm a full year out. I am mainly looking in the $2K range. If you are looking around a similar price point, I am happy to PM you info for some of the people I've been talking to.

From your profile I see that your wedding is the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.  This is popular weekend for weddings - every day of the weekend is popular.  What you are finding is right, that alot of the good ones are already booked.  But there are alot of people out there.  Do not give up just because.  Keep calling and searching around, but do it fast! 

Keep this in mind because your other major vendors may just do the same thing to you.  For the limo I booked for my 5/26/2012 wedding about three weeks ago, they already had reservations for my date.

My price range is 1000-2000 dollars. My fiance would defintely prefer less than 2000 though. Have any of you gone the route of hiring a friend or calling the local art institute for a student? What do you think that idea?

Foruntely, I am not finding this problem with DJs  (knock on wood).

I am not even trying for limos -thanks for the advice though! :-)

Our wedding is 8-4-2012.... and I contacted 8 photographers and all but 1 was booked on our date.

So I hurried and booked the only one available, I'm glad that her reviews were excellent.

I too was amazed at how fast they book.

But, there's a fair amount out there, just keeping looking (and being patient).  I'm sure you'll find one.  Good luck....

I am using Bob Ketcham Photography.  His range is between 1,000-2,000 depending on what you want.  His prices are on his website.  I was shocked when I started looking for photographers that they are so expensive. I'm not sure if he is booked for that date yet.
