Vellum is not my friend! Anyone else not have invites out?

So I will start by saying prior to purchasing the paper for my invites, we purchased some of the paper to test printing prior to buying the lot of it. I purchased the vellum, brought it to my bm's house, and printed on it just fine. We went to print the lot of them on the vellum last night, looked great, set it out to dry and got a text from bm saying they all bled overnight! Ack! Now we have to go buy more an use my work laser printer and hope that works or we have to ditch the whole design and start over. I feel like I'm way behind reading posts about RSVP's coming back. :( Any other girls still not have theirs out? I'm may 12 th and worried I'm not giving oot's enough time! Wish me luck on the next batch! I can't imagine spending anymore money on invites!

  • We don't have ours out yet.  We are May 19th.  I plan on sending them out this week,.  I think it will be fine though!  Good luck!

  • I'm a May 12th Bride also and most of my invites are out. I have about 10 left that are sealed and ready to go, but I still need the addresses from my mother.

But I'm also a bridesmaid in my friends wedding on April 21, and she hasn't sent any of hers out yet.

  • Did you send out STDs? If you did then guests will already know your date, plus most people will know of your date via word of mouth. I think as long as you get them out between 6-8 weeks you should be fine :)

    Good luck!

  • I just got mine out and I'm May 12.

I also DIY-ed our invitations, and printed on vellum.. it was a PAIN and it smudged more than it should have :(  Make sure you're using the "economy" or "ink saver" setting on your printer and print it under the photo setting.

The people I bought the vellum from explained to me that vellum is non porous, so it doesn't absorb the ink, it just kind of sits on top of the vellum, which is why it smudges so easily and why you need to use the least ink possible.  If you've already tried that, sorry I can't help more :(

  • That happened to me once with vellum...yuk!  Good luck with your work printer!  I'm May 12th and I have 6 more that need to be send (I forgot some,..oops!).  I think six weeks is the drop dead date, so you have a week or so.
