I got a Thank You note today from a friend whose shower was a few weeks ago. There was nothing wrong with it and I know that this is what thank you notes are supposed to be like, but after i read it i had the "oh, whatever" reaction to it. Here's what it said:
Thank you so much for the apple / potato peeler. Now I don't have to peel potatoes by hand, that is super exciting for me. And congrats, I can't wait for your wedding.
The whole thing just seems so cheesy to me and not heartfelt at all. My shower is next weekend and I'm dreading writing my thank you notes because I personally really don't like that format.
So I guess I have 2 questions. For everyone who has had showers already and sent your thank you notes, Did you do the typical "thank you for item X, Here's how i'm gonna use it" Or did you do something else.
And do you think i'd offend people if I just put (in better words obviously) "Thank you for item X, Fi and I really appreciate you helping us start our life together, make our house a home, etc." and left out the how i'm gonna use it part?
