playing DJ/song ratio?

Hi everyone!

We decided months ago to forgo a DJ and I would put together the playlists for everything. Getting all the music together (cds borrowed from libraries across the state + my own collection + amazon mp3 downloads) has been a massive undertaking but with the exception of the cd that has electric slide and a couple others, it's all in the playlists now!

Question on the dance music. What's a good ratio of fast to slow songs? I put the list together as 2 slow then 3 fast for the first couple of hours, eventually going to all fast. Does this seem about right? Anyone with more experience with DJs know what they usually do?

TIA!

  • i did every three or four fast songs one slow and then a few random slow songs thrown in where they seemed right to me.

  • Thanks. My sister said it was too many slow songs, too so I'll space them out a little more, I think.

  • I agre with PP. Anywhere between 3-5 fast songs per 1 slow song.
