Least expensive way to do cookie table?

Hello All,

My fiance and I currently live in Harrisburg, PA but are planning a Pittsburgh wedding for April at Heinz Chapel. We want to do a cookie table at the reception (when in Rome...) however most of our guests and family are from the Central Pa area and have no idea what a cookie table is ( or why we would have one) so we are not going to ask anyone to bake cookies for us. The bakery that is doing our cake is charging us $8.00 a dozen- has anyone found a better price than this?

Thank you!

we were in the same situation as you - out of town and didnt want to make our own/travel with them.

We used Potomac Bakery - much better pricing!! We got 30 dozen for under 200, and the cookies were great.

FI and I taste-tested 10 area bakeries and Potomac Bakery and Party Cake tasted the best (with Potomac having a better bottom line for cookies + delivery).
  • I know Bethel Bakery has some really good deals for their cookie trays.  I believe iti s $49 for 10 dozens which is about $5 a dozen.  Their cookies are delicious.

Also, I know my mother wants to have one and she plans on asking friends to help bake as well.  A lot of her friend's daughters that have had weddings already have requested that she make a few dozen cookies.  It all just depends on the family/friend base that you have available in Pittsburgh or if they are willing to bring them with them when they travel.

    Hope this helps!
  • The Priory also has good cookie table deals.  My mom is still arguing with me over this, but I'm skipping it.

My mom and I made all of our cookies. A few friends did chip in a few dozen here and there. We ended up with 120+ dozen cookies at the wedding. We started making them months and months before the wedding, and freeze them. We have certain cookies we bake though and have done it for years. If you can do it that way, do it. Our florist set up the actual cookie table and it was AMAZING!! Check with your florist to see if they can do the setting of it?

  • The shop and save in Bridgeville does a really good job.
For cookies, its like 4.20 a dozen, and they'll work with you to match wedding colors on cookies (depending on your colors and types of cookies). We're doing some baking on our own, then supplementing with shop and save.
I bumped into a woman who was leaving with 45 dozen cookies, for 190 bucks!
  • A friend of mine got married last March and asked some close friends and family to make cookies for her reception. I know some people are very against having guests contribute to the reception (like by paying for alcohol, etc) but I was happy to make cookies for her! I knew they were on a tight budget and cookies are easy enough to throw together. She had more than enough left over too and everyone only made 2-3 dozen.
