OOT Guest Bags...

Is anyone doing these? I don't want to neglect my OOT guests, but it seems like an unnecessary added expense.

Re: OOT Guest Bags...

  • If your guests are familar with the area I don't see a need but for guests that don't have a clue I would include a detailed map & directions to your ceremony & venue plus places close by the hotel they are staying at such as food, gas stations & places of interest.

  • I can't decide :( I have A LOT of oot guests, pretty much 80% of our guest list so I feel like If I did it for them, I should be doing it for everyone. So with that said, probably not. I have received them in the past and don't really use them
  • If I do them, it will probably be the bare minimum, like a map, directions, local attractions...stuff I can put together for cheap or free.  I don't have any room in my budget for stuff like that.

I'm planning on it. I think it's nice and we have a lot of guests coming in from out of town who don't know the area. We're planning on doing simple brown bags with tags (like pictured below), bottled water, a couple individual bags of snacks/candy, a welcome note from FI & I with weekend details and some touristy info (maps, brochures, etc) that we're getting for free from our local visitors bureau. All together they'll cost about $2 each and we're only doing one per family/couple. The only cost is the bag, water and snacks. To save money you could just put together packets of information from your local visitors bureau or chamber of commerce with a nice note from you and your FI.

  • I am for one friend because she is coming in from England and has never been here, the others have been here before and are going home right after the reception as they don't live that far away.

  • We are since my entire family is OOT, we are still looking around for things.  I know I want to do bags, one per room.  We want to include some water and snack which we could probably do cheap with sales and bulk buying. Since most of the guest have never been to Chicago before, we want to include maps, coupons for restaurants, basically touristy stuff.  If we can we want to include some Chicago things, I know we were thinking of going a popcorn place that is big here.

If I can I want to do something extra for the guest that are coming in for a full week, like a museum pass or something.

  • I'm still torn on this.  I like the idea but I'm not sure if it's worth it since we probably won't have very many OOT guests.

  • So how far away are you considering oot? Most of our guests are from Massachusetts. We are having the wedding in Western MA, and most of the oot guests are my family, from Eastern MA.

So is the rule, oot means staying in a hotel?

<div>I am going to include this information on our wedding website, the guests can take down the info or print it out to use. I think with the internet these days people can google attractions and figure out what to do on their own. If I was going to a wedding as an OOT guest I might expect a map but if not I can easily find my own directions from hotel to ceremony and reception. </div>

We're pretty similiar here [married in W. Mass, guests from E. Mass & RI]. We're only doing OOT bags for guests staying at the hotel we've set up our room block with.
